The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on February 18 to 6:00am on February 19, we received 467 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 63
  • East: 94
  • Midtown: 82  
  • North: 81
  • South: 61
  • West: 75
  • Other: 11

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, February 18:

Priority calls only from 9:57am to 12:21pm due to calls for service. 

  • 5:58am - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of an 82-year-old female subject unconscious and not breathing. The subject was determined to be deceased. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  
  • 5:58am - Midtown – Missing Adult: A 32-year-old male subject was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Subject listed as missing in the appropriate databases. *Verona PD responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in their jurisdiction. The driver was the missing person who stole the vehicle. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and multiple counts of bail jumping.   
  • 9:40am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a 37-year-old male subject who broke into a home and was armed with a knife. A sergeant was nearby and responded immediately. The subject was outside and complied with orders to drop the knife. The subject is not known to the homeowner/resident. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Probable cause developed to charge the subject with 2nd degree reckless endangering safety and burglary. Final outcome pending. *Emergency detention sought/approved. Subject was transported to Winnebago.
  • 11:12am – Central – Disturbance: An officer came upon two subjects throwing a football in the street (E. Mifflin St/Wisconsin Ave). The officer asked them to move which they did initially but returned to the street once the officer passed by. The officer stopped out to talk with the two subjects.  A 27-year-old male subject became agitated and verbally aggressive.  The subject resisted when officers detained him. The subject was arrested for resisting and issued a few municipal citations.  
  • 11:50am – West – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested MPD locate/arrest an 18-year-old male subject for violating terms of his probation. The subject was located, arrested, and transported to jail.   
  • 12:41pm – East – Unwanted Subject: Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of E. Washington Ave for a 37-year-old male subject who refused to leave the premises when asked to by staff. Officers attempted to dialogue with the subject. The subject was not cooperative and physically resisted officers, elbowing an officer in the face and attempting to strike another officer. The subject was arrested for resisting causing injury, attempted batter to law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
  • 7:36pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 50-year-old male subject. It was reported that the subject was intoxicated and threw the victim to the ground. The victim punched the subject and knocked him out. Contact made with the subject’s spouse. Safety plan created. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Subject not taken into custody at this time.
  • 9:43pm – South – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject was walking about the police district parking lot acting strange. The subject was contacted and found to be non-verbal. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Final outcome pending.

Thursday, February 19:

  • 12:17am – South – Traffic Arrest: Traffic stop attempted but the driver (22-year-old male) fled.  No pursuit took place. Driver/vehicle located pulled over. Driver contacted and he was not cooperative. The subject was arrested for felony eluding and a probation/parole hold.
  • 4:45am – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. An argument started in a vehicle. The subject punched the windshield from the inside and cracked it. The victim called police and the subject fled prior to officers’ arrival.  The subject returned to the area as officers are on scene. The subject was detained and found to be heavily intoxicated. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, domestic disorderly conduct, and domestic criminal damage to property. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants and misdemeanor bail jumping.
