The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on February 25 to 6:00am on February 26, we received 448 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 50
- East: 94
- Midtown: 103
- North: 72
- South: 72
- West: 50
- Other: 7
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Wednesday, February 25:
Priority calls only from 5:18pm to 2:19am due to calls for service.
- 8:03am - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance between a parent and their 50-year-old son. The subject left the residence prior to officers arriving. Probable cause was developed to arrest the subject. Probation/Parole placed a hold on the subject. The subject remains at-large.
- 9:57am - North – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested that MPD locate/arrest a wanted subject (33-year-old male). The subject was contacted and transported to jail.
- 2:29pm - East – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault of a child. Investigation continuing.
- 4:28pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: A 31-year-old male subject showed up at his ex’s workplace. The two subjects got into a verbal argument. The subject took the victim’s phone and broke it. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. The subject turned himself in later in the evening. Charges – domestic disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.
- 7:54pm - East – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a medical/mental health facility for a patient/subject that was combative with staff. An emergency detention was sought/approved. The subject was transported to Winnebago.
- 9:41pm - Midtown – Child Neglect: Officers responded to a parking lot for a report of two kids left unattended in a vehicle. A 41-year-old male subject was identified as the owner of the vehicle. He was inside the establishment drinking alcohol. The kids were left in a locked vehicle that was turned off with a sunroof open. The subject was arrested for child neglect and resisting.
Thursday, February 26:
- 12:09am - Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a 27-year-old male subject parked on the street (E. Wilson St) and throwing personal belongings all over the road/sidewalk. It was reported that the subject may be armed. Subject contacted. Consent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a handgun. The subject has an open case preventing him from possessing any weapons. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.
