The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on March 3 to 6:00am on March 4, we received 471 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 68
  • East: 87
  • Midtown: 78 
  • North: 89
  • South: 55
  • West: 84
  • Other: 10

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Tuesday, March 3:

  • 6:45am - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence after it was reported that a 27-year-old female subject arrived home around 5:45am after a long night of drinking, was left to care for 3 young children, and a phone call was made to the husband where one of the children could be heard asking for help. Officers arrived at the residence and made entry to check the welfare of the children. The subject caused a disturbance at a neighbor’s residence. The subject was found to be highly intoxicated. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor child neglect. Child Protective Services notified.
  • 8:30am - Central – Recovered Stolen Auto: A vehicle that was reported stolen in February was located/recovered in an apartment complex parking lot (800 block of E. Washington Ave). Vehicle towed. Attempted contact with owner.   
  • 9:54am – South – Crash: Officers responded to the Beltline (westbound just after John Nolen) for a report of a dump truck vs. vehicle crash with a possible subject ejected. Driver/vehicle was merging when it made contact with the dump truck. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected out the driver-side window. The driver was conscious and alert when officers arrived on scene. A second crash occurred as a result of this crash. The driver was transported to a local hospital. Citation(s) forthcoming for the driver (21-year-old female).
  • 2:51pm – Central – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of an intoxicated subject (46-year-old female). The subject is prohibited from consuming alcohol. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor bail jumping.
  • 3:57pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 19-year-old male subject. The subject struck the victim in the face, causing them to bleed. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and false imprisonment.
  • 8:09pm – South – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the area due to blood being located everywhere outside of an apartment building. Officers tracked the blood to an apartment unit. Entry made to the unit where a subject with self-inflicted wounds was located. The subject was transported to a local hospital after officers performed lifesaving measures. Local mental health resources plugged in. Subject admitted. Investigation continuing.
  • 8:32pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: Caller was walking their dogs when they observed a subject (36-year-old male) lurking around the fence line acting suspicious (banging his water bottle on the fence and flashing his flashlight at the caller). Officers arrived in the area and the subject took off on foot. The subject was contacted/detained. The subject was in possession of meth. The subject was arrested for possession of meth, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting, disorderly conduct, and a probation/parole hold.

Wednesday, March 4:

  • 12:33am – South – Fatal Crash: Officers responded to a report of a rollover crash (800 block of S. Park St). One vehicle/subject were determined to be involved. The driver (36-year-old male) was pronounced deceased. Crash captured on city cameras. Driver/vehicle ran a red light, crossed three lanes of traffic, went up on a sidewalk, struck a retaining wall, and rolled several times.  No other vehicles involved. Investigation continuing.
