Common Council New Business Summaries

Common Council New Business Summaries are short descriptions of items introduced at the most recent Common Council meeting. They come from the “Introduction of New Business for Referral Without Debate" section of the agenda, as well as any items introduced from the floor. This document should help readers identify items they are interested in as they make their way through City Boards, Commissions, and Committees (BCCs) and back to the Common Council for a decision.

Items with District 19 Impact

92355 – This proposed resolution would adopt a Relocation Order for the acquisition of land interests required for the construction of safety improvements at the intersection of S. Whitney Way and Odana Road. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

Ordinances:

Ordinances are the laws for the City of Madison. Items in this section are newly proposed ordinances or changes that are being put forward.

92289 – This proposed ordinance would make several changes to the City's solid waste disposal related ordinances to bring the ordinances up to date with current City practices and State law requirements and terminology. This proposed ordinance will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92342 – This proposed ordinance would allow for longer periods for installment payments of special assessments for customers of private water supply cooperatives. This proposed ordinance will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92344 – This proposed ordinance would amend the zoning code to include a new accessory use, “fairground," which is an outdoor area on government-owned property used for events such as fairs, carnivals, exhibitions, agricultural and animal shows, commercial expositions and trade shows, concerts, sporting events or other similar events. This proposed ordinance will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92348 – This proposed ordinance would rezone property located at 822 Pulley Drive in District 3 to facilitate division of the property into two lots. This proposed ordinance will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92386 – This proposed ordinance would revise several sections of the ordinances related to the work of the Office of the Independent Police Monitor (OIM) and the Police Civilian Oversight Board (PCOB), to clarify that the OIM, while independent in its responsibilities and authority to conduct investigations and make recommendations, is subject to City procedures and policies as are other City agencies. This proposed ordinance will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

Resolutions are individual matters, such as the approval of contracts or the setting of internal City policy, among other types of items. Items in this section are newly proposed resolutions.

92238 – This proposed resolution would approve a Certified Survey Map of property owned by Peerless Development Co. located at 1111-1135 Regent Street and 2 S Mills Street in District 13. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92239 – This proposed resolution would approve a Certified Survey Map of property owned by Werth Company, LLC located at 822 Pulley Drive in District 3. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92337 – This proposed resolution would authorize a five-year agreement with Dane County Emergency Management to compensate the Madison Fire Department (MFD) for servicing the medication and supply vending machines at local hospitals. 92347 – This proposed resolution would authorize an agreement between the City of Madison and Madison's Central Business Improvement District and/or its fiscal sponsor for programming at locations on State Street and the Capitol Square. 92349 – This proposed resolution would authorize a first amendment to the contract with CCATT LLC for the installation of telecommunications equipment at Breese Stevens Field in District 6. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92350 – This proposed resolution would  authorize the execution of a Purchase and Sale Agreement between the City of Madison and Dane County for the County's purchase of the property located at 7270 Maahic Way in District 16. 92351 – This proposed resolution would  authorize an amendment to the Purchase and Sale Agreement with RDC Development, LLC for land banking purposes in District 15. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92352 – This proposed resolution would vacate and discontinue Kipp Circle within the plat of Marsh Road Industrial Subdivision to allow the combining of lots for the development of a new industrial site in District 16. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92363 – This proposed resolution would authorize the City's execution of a Purchase and Sale Agreement between the City of Madison and The Salvation Army for the purchase of the property located at 3030 Darbo Drive in District 15. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92365 – This proposed resolution would authorize an easement for temporary use and occupation of air space over portions of Breese Stevens Field in District 6 from April 2026 through June 30, 2027. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92373 – This proposed resolution would authorize the City's execution of grant agreements for the 2026 Neighborhood Grant Program. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92374 – This proposed resolution would authorize a competitively selected contract with REDI Transports, LLC for the dates of May 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, for ongoing emergency detention transport services. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92375 – This proposed resolution would authorize the Community Development Division to extend Purchase of Services contracts with Housing Initiatives, Inc. and Madison Community Cooperative, Inc. through December 31, 2026. 92425 – This proposed resolution would authorize the City of Madison Parks Division to purchase 8.86 acres of land located at 1010 North Street in District 12. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

92452 – This proposed resolution would authorize executing a grant agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds for a $5,000 Wellness Program grant. This proposed resolution will go to the following BCCs on the following dates:

You can register to speak at a BCC meeting on issues and agenda items important to you. You can also register in support or opposition to the item without speaking. 

1. Go to the meeting registration page. 
2. In the “Meeting" drop down select the BCC that you want to register for. 
   1. Important Note: You can only register if the BCC has posted its agenda.  This is usually a few days ahead of the meeting. 
3. Choose the agenda number that matches the item you are interested in. 
4. Choose to register support or oppose the agenda item, if you would like to speak, if you are representing an organization or another person, and provide your contact information. 

You can request interpretation, translation, and accommodations for any committee meeting. To do this, go to the meeting schedule page and select the BCC you are interested in. In that page there will be an “Interpretation & Accommodations" header with directions for that meeting.
