The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on April 1 to 6:00am on April 2, we received 444 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 53
  • East: 86
  • Midtown: 87  
  • North: 79
  • South: 56
  • West: 68
  • Other: 15

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, April 1:

  • 2:14am – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault and disturbance. The caller/victim reported to dispatch they were no longer on scene and did not want to meet with officers. Officers attempted to contact the victim numerous times without success. Areas checked. Officers made contact with a friend of the victim. The subject was contacted and arrested at this time for disorderly conduct and obstructing.
  • 10:51am – North – Sexual Assault: MPD received a report of sexual assault between two subjects (known acquaintances). Investigation continuing.  
  • 3:18pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old male subject. The subject was wearing an “IT" clown mask and approached a subject wishing to fight them. The victim walked away and called the police. The subject then caused a disturbance at the residence where his child/mother resides. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and disorderly conduct. While at the jail an emergency detention evaluation was requested. Emergency detention sought/approved. The subject was transported to Winnebago.
  • 4:38pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded, along with MFD/EMS, to a report of a 34-year-old male subject unconscious and experiencing a drug overdose. Naloxone administered before the arrival of MPD/MFD. Subject regained consciousness. Drugs/drug paraphernalia located in the subject's backpack. The subject obtained a medical clearance and was booked into jail for possession with intent to deliver meth and a probation violation.
  • 4:57pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 27-year-old female subject. It was reported that the subject threw a large kitchen knife at the victim. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and a probation/parole hold.

Thursday, April 2:

  • 12:12am – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 43-year-old male subject. The subject punched and shoved the victim. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
  • 12:26am – North – Disturbance: Two subjects who used to date met up at a bar. The victim left the bar. The subject followed the victim, swerved at the victim numerous times, and sent threatening text messages indicating they planned to kill the victim. The subject went to the home where the victim was staying at and started it on fire (fire extinguished/no injuries). The subject fled in a vehicle and was picked up north out of the city by the Dane County Sheriff's Office. A traffic stop was initiated. The subject pulled over and before deputies made contact, the subject shot/killed themselves. Subject's vehicle towed. Gun recovered.
