The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on April 5 to 6:00am on April 6, we received 461 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 69
- East: 95
- Midtown: 79
- North: 77
- South: 56
- West: 78
- Other: 7
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, April 6:
Priority calls only from 1:08pm to 3:50pm due to calls for service.
- 9:16am – Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject slapped the victim in the face. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.
- 12:32pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence involving numerous subjects (neighbors). A 16-year-old male subject kicked a neighbor's door numerous times resulting in the locking mechanism breaking. A 32-year-old female subject was screaming and banging on the door prior to the door being kicked/broken. Both subjects were not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge both subjects.
- 12:56pm – Central – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject with a Chapter 51 return was transported to a local hospital. Placement pending.
- 1:17pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to an address reference a strangulation incident that occurred in another jurisdiction. The 21-year-old male subject was reportedly suicidal and armed with a gun. The subject was located/contacted. Handgun located/recovered. The subject was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing. The other law enforcement jurisdiction responded to investigate their case.
- 1:44pm – Central – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a threats complaint where a subject threatened to stab their roommate. The subject was contacted at home and found to have a dagger on them. The subject was taken into protective custody, transported to a local hospital, and evaluated for an emergency detention. Emergency detention supported. Transport to Winnebago completed. Criminal charges forthcoming for the subject.
- 2:13pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: A 42-year-old male subject was contacted as he appeared to be in possession of a silver handgun (subject was indexing the object across his chest). The item turned out to be a silver lighter shaped like a handgun. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and a probation hold.
- 6:32pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to numerous calls about a disturbance in a parking lot of an apartment complex. It was reported that a 37-year-old male subject was hitting a vehicle with a bat and that a subject was bleeding. Officers made entry to an apartment unit to check the welfare of the occupants. The suspect, victim, other subjects, and several children were located. Investigation resulted in the male subject being arrested for disorderly conduct, battery (3 counts), strong armed robbery, and disorderly conduct while armed.
- 8:04pm – West – Runaway Juvenile: An 11-year-old male subject was reported as a runaway. The juvenile has a history of running away. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
Tuesday, April 7:
- 12:16am – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a group home for a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (79-year-old male). Subject was pronounced deceased. Subject was on hospice. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 12:23am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were dispatched to the Taco Bell on State Street 4 times overnight. This call was about a fight in progress involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was described as acting erratically, screaming, throwing chairs, and trying to fight another subject. The subject was contacted/detained. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was verbally combative with officers and threatened officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement, and felony bail jumping.
- 12:40am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were dispatched to the Taco Bell on State Street 4 times overnight. Officers were still in the area after the 1st call and observed a fight taking place between two subjects. Both subjects were arrested for disorderly conduct (52-year-old male, 36-year-old male).
- 3:06am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were dispatched to the Taco Bell on State Street 4 times overnight. This call was about a 37-year-old female subject trying to fight people while threatening to get a knife and kill herself. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.
- 4:06am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were dispatched to the Taco Bell on State Street 4 times overnight. This call was about a 56-year-old male subject threatening to shoot people. Subject contacted/detained. No gun/weapon located. The subject was not cooperative with officers and threatened to kill them. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and threats to law enforcement.
