The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on April 8 to 6:00am on April 9, we received 474 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 67
- East: 106
- Midtown: 84
- North: 87
- South: 58
- West: 62
- Other: 10
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Wednesday, April 8:
Priority calls only from 5pm-6:41pm due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 8:44pm to 11:43pm due to calls for service.
- 6am – Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject brought to the hospital overnight caused a disturbance. Local mental health resources plugged in and requested an emergency detention. Emergency detention approved. The subject was transported to Winnebago.
- 9:32am – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to Porchlight for an unwanted subject (25-year-old male) causing a disturbance. The subject caused property damage to the premises. The subject was arrested for criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, and a probation warrant.
- 10:34am – Midtown – Missing Adult: A 21-year-old male subject with schizophrenia and autism was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
- 11:31am – East – Weapons Offense: Caller/driver reported being tailgated by another driver/vehicle. The suspect pulled alongside the victim's vehicle, rolled down their window, and pulled their hand up. The victim heard a loud “pop". No damage reported. Investigation continuing.
- 2:53pm – South – Crash: Officers responded to S. Park St at the Beltline for a dump truck vs. school bus crash. The driver of the dump truck ran a red light and struck the bus which had the right-of-way to turn. The bus had children on board. Minor injuries sustained. The driver of the dump truck was cited for a red light violation.
- 3:37pm – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a business in the 1800 block of S. Park Street for a disturbance involving a 27-year-old female subject. The subject was throwing things and kicked a bystander in the chest. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
- 8:28pm – Midtown – Missing Adult: A 22-year-old female subject was reported missing from her group home. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was located and transported to jail on a probation/parole hold.
- 8:29pm – Central – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash (East Campus Mall/W. Dayton St). The pedestrian had the right-of-way in the crosswalk when they were struck by a 72-year-old male subject. The subject showed signs of impairment. Opened/used alcohol was located in the vehicle. The pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing injury.
- 8:56pm – West – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. Contact made with two occupants (19-year-old male driver and 18-year-old male passenger). The driver then fled from the traffic stop (driving off). The vehicle was later located/towed. The passenger was located ducking between vehicles. He was arrested for resisting. The driver remains at-large.
Thursday, April 9:
- 12:40am – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect call at a residence. Contact was made with two subjects. A 51-year-old male subject was found to be in violation of his probation rules (no contact with a subject and no drinking). The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and a probation violation.
