The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on April 27 to 6:00am on April 28, we received 473 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 76
  • East: 89
  • Midtown: 85  
  • North: 80
  • South: 57
  • West: 75
  • Other: 11

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, April 27:

  • 5:55am – East – Disturbance: The victim and subject (39-year-old male) agreed to meet at the subject's residence. The subject would not allow the victim to leave when they wanted to. The victim tried to flee in the morning, and the subject physically attacked them. The victim lost consciousness. The subject took the victim's phone. The victim was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Contact attempted with the subject without success. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the subject.  
  • 6:25am – East – Check Person: Neighbors called about a disturbance/yelling taking place. Contact made with a subject who was placed into protective custody. The subject was making suicidal statements while throwing/breaking items in their home. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Final outcome pending.
  • 2:55pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a day shelter for a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject was yelling at a victim and threatening to kill the victim. The victim had visible injuries. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
  • 3:28pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Beacon for a disturbance involving a 48-year-old male subject. The subject asked the victim if he could have their gold necklace. The victim said no. The subject ripped the necklace off the victim's neck. The subject punched the victim in the face. The subject was arrested for theft and disorderly conduct. The subject was also cited for trespassing as he was banned the day before by shelter staff.
  • 10:27pm – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the 200 block of State St for a report of an unwanted subject (43-year-old male). The subject was observed with a knife. There were bolt cutters near the subject. The subject was not cooperative with officers and provided false identification. The subject was detained for trespassing and positively identified. The subject was arrested for trespassing, resisting, felony bail jumping, and an outstanding warrant.
  • 11:05pm – Midtown – Drug Incident: Caller reported several subjects were in their apartment (which has a history of drug use) using drugs. Caller stated one of the subject's went unconscious and naloxone was administered. Another subject was also reported to have gone unconscious. One subject was revived and transported to a local hospital. Lifesaving measures were performed on a 38-year-old female subject, but the subject passed away. A 33-year-old female subject was arrested on a probation hold, felony bail jumping, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Medical Examiner's office responded. Investigation continuing.

Tuesday, April 28:

  • 2:05am – Midtown – Check Person: Caller reported that a male subject was wandering in a neighbor's backyard yelling that he had a warrant. The caller also believed the subject was armed with a knife. Contact was made with a 57-year-old male subject. The subject was found to have an outstanding warrant and a concealed pocket knife (subject is a felon). The subject was arrested on the warrant and possession of a concealed knife.
