The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on May 1 to 6:00am on May 4 we received 1,344 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 256
  • East: 294
  • Midtown: 218   
  • North: 221
  • South: 135
  • West: 191
  • Other: 29

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, May 1:

Priority calls only from 1pm-2:10pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 7:32pm to 11:06pm due to calls for service.

  • 8:31am – West – Runaway Juvenile: A 17-year-old female was reported as a runaway. An officer was able to connect with the juvenile over the phone. The juvenile would not disclose their location. The juvenile was advised they would be entered as missing/runaway in law enforcement databases. 
  • 11:50am – East – Hit-and-Run Crash: A truck of some sort was too tall for the clearance (Femrite Drive going under I-90 bridge) and damaged the concrete blocks. The truck did not remain on scene. State Highway Inspector responded to check the stability of the bridge. 
  • 12:57pm – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (80-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified. 
  • 4:12pm – South – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a convenience store parking lot (W. Broadway) for a subject (44-year-old female) passed out in a vehicle. The subject was contacted and found to be impaired. Alcohol was observed in plain view. The subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, resisting, and felony bail jumping.  
  • 6:01pm – North – Death Investigation: Caller located their neighbor (67-year-old male) down on the ground beside their lawn mower. The subject was not breathing and had no pulse. EMS attempted lifesaving medical aid. The subject was pronounced deceased. Nothing suspicious identified. 
  • 9:10pm – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (37-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

Saturday, May 2:

Priority calls only from 10:36am to 11:27am due to calls for service. 

Priority calls only from 6:15pm to 7:07pm due to calls for service.

  • 1:54am – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 41-year-old male subject called the police about their neighbor. No concerns were identified with the neighbor. The caller/subject had an outstanding warrant and was arrested/conveyed to jail.
  • 2:27am – Central – Intoxicated Driver: Officers were on foot patrol when a vehicle/driver (30-year-old male) was observed driving against traffic (Henry St). Officers attempted to stop the driver/vehicle. The driver accelerated and officers had to jump out of the way. The driver continued to drive against traffic on Johnson St with vehicles swerving out of the way. The driver/vehicle was reported as having crashed at Bassett/Johnson. The driver attempted to walk away but was apprehended by officers. A passenger in the subject's vehicle was injured. The subject failed field sobriety tests. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing injury (2nd offense), reckless driving causing injury, eluding, hit-and-run, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, operating after revocation, and failure to render aid.
  • 5:50am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 42-year-old male subject. There was a mention of guns being involved. The subject was contacted/detained. Investigation led to probable cause being developed. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.
  • 8:05am – Central – Intoxicated Driver: A 24-year-old male subject/driver drove around emergency vehicles/traffic barricades (on scene of a separate incident). Driver stopped and detained. Driver appeared impaired and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) and failure to yield to emergency vehicle.
  • 10:03am – Central – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash (S. Baldwin St/Williamson St). Driver had a green light and pedestrians had the crosswalk. The driver/vehicle struck the pedestrian who fell to the ground, on top of a child.  Both pedestrians were checked out a local hospital, with no serious injuries reported. The driver (67-year-old male) was cited for failure to yield causing injury and operating with an expired license.   
  • 10:24am – West – Missing Adult: A 24-year-old female subject was reported as missing from their group home. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases. *Subject located safe in MN and a plan was made to have the subject return to their group home.  
  • 2:40pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 26-year-old male subject was driving his motorcycle recklessly. He lifted up his shirt which displayed a firearm. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed. Traffic citations also issued.
  • 3:10pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 30-year-old male subject was running around the Capitol area and grabbed two separate victims. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, and physical abuse to a child (one of the victims was a minor).  
  • 4:17pm – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance in a parking lot (1800 block of S. Park St) between two subjects. The victim sustained injuries which required medical attention. The subject remains at-large.
  • 7:13pm – Central – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault between two acquaintances. Investigation continuing.

Sunday, March 3:

Priority calls only from 3:48am to 10:29am due to calls for service. 

Priority calls only from 4:39pm to 6:21pm due to calls for service. 

  • 12:08am – East – Adult Arrested Person: Two wanted subjects (25-year-old male and 33-year-old female) were taken into custody. The male subject was arrested on several warrants and probable cause for charges from multiple agencies. The female subject was arrested on a DOC warrant.
  • 1:20am – Central – Disturbance: Officers flagged down for a disturbance on N. Henry St involving a 29-year-old male subject. The subject told officers they were armed. A loaded gun was located on the subject. The subject holds a CCW license. The subject was intoxicated. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and armed while intoxicated.
  • 3:41am – East – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to Cottage Grove Rd for a report of shots fired and a report of a subject shot. The victim was located and conveyed to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.
  • 8:55am – North – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject who was heavily intoxicated. The subject was contacted, placed into protective custody, and transported to a local hospital due to them being incapacitated. The subject was left in the care of medical staff.
  • 12:29pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. A disturbance took place during a child-custody exchange. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.
  • 3:16pm – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 47-year-old female subject reported they punched someone at a bus stop.  No disturbance found to have taken place, but the subject reported they have anger issues and they wanted to go to the hospital. The subject was found to have been drinking and already seen at a local hospital.  Officers explained this to the subject. The subject got upset, lunged at officers, and punched an officer. The subject was arrested for battery to law enforcement.
  • 3:30pm – South – Adult Arrested Person: A 46-year-old male subject called 911 because he thought he was overdosing. The subject had an outstanding warrant and probable cause for their arrest. EMS also responded and loaded the subject into the ambulance. The subject was transported to a local hospital. The subject attempted to then leave the hospital. A short foot pursuit took place. The subject was detained. The subject was arrested on a warrant, outstanding probable cause, and resisting.
  • 8:49pm – East – Runaway Juvenile: A 15-year-old female subject was reported as a runaway from a local juvenile shelter. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was entered as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
  • 9:04pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 32-year-old female subject. An argument took place between the subject and the victim. The subject threw a table at the victim. The subject was intoxicated. The subject resisted officers when they went to place her under arrest. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 10:40pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers observed a 56-year-old male subject on State Street with an open intoxicant. The subject attempted to leave the area when they saw officers. Officers gave verbal commands to the subject to stop. The subject ignored the officers. The officers went hands-on to detain the subject. The subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, obstructing, resisting, and a probation/parole hold.

Monday, May 4:

Priority calls only from 1:30am to 4:13am due to calls for service.

  • 1:28am – North – Domestic Disturbance: An officer was flagged down by a victim who reported a violent disturbance had taken place involving a 29-year-old male subject. The victim was physically assaulted and had their phone taken away by the subject. The subject was contacted by officers who provided false identification. Probable cause was developed to arrest the subject. The subject was charged with domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, domestic strangulation, domestic intimidation of a victim, domestic false imprisonment, and obstruction.
