The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on May 12 to 6:00am on May 13, we received 453 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Other: 9

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Tuesday, May 12:

Priority calls only from 11:52am to 1:46pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 4:49pm to 6:49pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 10:53pm to 11:18pm due to calls for service. 

  • 7:32am – South – Check Person: Officers responded to the pedestrian bridge at Fish Hatchery and the Beltline for a report of a subject who had climbed over the fence on the bridge. Contact was made with the subject who appeared to be in distress. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Emergency detention sought/approved. Placement pending. 
  • 9:06am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 54-year-old male subject with a warrant was observed and taken into custody. 
  • 9:46am – Central – Check Person: MPD/CARES responded to check the welfare of a subject (35-year-old male). The subject refused to leave the premises when asked. The subject began to fight with officers. The subject was arrested for resisting, misdemeanor bail jumping, and trespassing.
  • 11:35am – Central – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential burglary alarm.  Residence cleared. Nothing of concern located. Security footage showed wind to be the culprit of opening a patio door.
  • 11:45am – East – Check Person: Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject reportedly causing self-harm. The subject was contacted. MPD Mental Health Officer also responded. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Subject reported being sexually assaulted. Investigation continuing.
  • 12:29pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the Beacon for an intoxicated subject (28-year-old male) causing a disturbance. Staff asked the subject to leave and he refused. Officers asked the subject to leave and he refused. The subject is banned from the Beacon. The subject was arrested for resisting and cited for trespassing. 
  • 2:40pm – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a hotel for a 66-year-old male subject observed hitting another subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting. The subject was cited for trespassing. The victim was not on scene when officers arrived.
  • 3:38pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance/road rage incident (Hwy 12/County Hwy AB). A 48-year-old female subject/driver thought another driver (victim) hit their vehicle. The subject yelled at the victim to pull over. The victim did not pull over. The subject swerved toward the victim/vehicle attempting to slow them down. The subject pulled in front of the victim's vehicle which stopped them. The subject and victim got out of their vehicles. The victim was punched in the face by the subject. The victim's spouse intervened. The subject ripped a necklace off the victim's neck breaking it. There was no evidence to suggest the victim struck the subject's vehicle. No damage observed on either vehicle. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery, and criminal damage to property. She was also cited for unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle with no insurance, and reckless driving. 
  • 4:01pm – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Caller reported observing a 17-year-old male passenger in a vehicle in possession of a gun and pointing the gun at another passenger in the vehicle. The subject was contacted. The gun was recovered and found to be a facsimile. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and possession of a facsimile firearm.
  • 4:35pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at the Dutch Mill Park & Ride. A 45-year-old male subject sprayed a victim with OC spray (without any exchange of words). The subject was arrested for unlawful use of OC and felon in possession of OC.
  • 8:52pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Caller stated the mother of his child took off with the child. The caller then advised dispatch they did not want police help. The mother contacted dispatch to report a disturbance had taken place with the other parent (22-year-old male subject). Probable cause was developed to arrest the subject who caused damage to the victim's vehicle. Subject remains at-large.
  • 9:48pm – Central – Theft: A 62-year-old male subject stole a laptop from a vehicle in a parking lot. Video surveillance showed the incident and the subject was identified. The subject was contacted and arrested for theft.
  • 10:42pm – East – Check Person: Officers responded to a subject who reported to be suicidal. The subject was contacted. Officers dialogued with the subject. The subject agreed to seek help. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Final outcome pending.
