The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on May 18 to 6:00am on May 19, we received 471 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 65
- East: 130
- Midtown: 76
- North: 94
- South: 41
- West: 51
- Other: 14
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, May 18:
Priority calls only from 3pm to 3:31pm due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 5:34pm to 7:23pm due to calls for service.
- 8:09am – Central – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from a residential complex. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
- 9:08am – Midtown – Crash: A driver (65-year-old male) was at a complete or near complete stop when he swerved into traffic at a fast pace, hit a curb to avoid hitting a car, hit an occupied vehicle (no injuries), struck a tree, and hit a building (no structural damage). No signs of impairment. The driver was cited for reckless driving, imprudent speed, driving against traffic, driving on a sidewalk, and a red-light violation.
- 11:32am – Midtown – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. building (business) crash (3500 block of Monroe St). Driver reported the gas pedal became stuck. No signs of impairment.
- 2:56pm – East – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a suicidal subject armed with a gun. The subject was contacted. MPD Mental Health Officer and crisis worker evaluated the subject. Safey plan created. Officers disengaged.
- 4:52pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 54-year-old male subject. Victim reported that the subject started a disturbance, took money from them, and tore up the kitchen. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived but he was located nearby and detained. Probable cause was established. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic criminal damage to property, felony intimidation of a victim, and theft.
- 10:04pm – Central – Check Person: Caller reported they had cut themselves with a knife. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital. Local mental health resources plugged in. Officers disengaged.
Tuesday, May 19:
- 1:03am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: An officer made contact with a 42-year-old female subject who was riding a bicycle without a headlight. The subject had an outstanding warrant. The subject was transported to jail.
