I sincerely hope this message finds you well and having an enjoyable and meaningful Memorial Day Holiday. All city offices are closed, there will be no trash pickup, and Metro buses will run on the Sunday schedule.
Water main flushing will occur this week in Eagle Heights, on the west side of campus, and along much of Monroe Street and surrounding areas.
Public Information Meetings (PIMs)
- Virtual Open House | District 16 Parks, Thursday, May 28, 2026: Madison Parks is holding a series of virtual public input sessions for the Southeast Park Development Plan process coinciding with the City Planning Division's Southeast Area Plan and mapping area. The meetings will include an overview of the planning effort's goals, a review of the neighborhood parks included, and an opportunity for area residents and park visitors to share their thoughts on future park improvements.
- Public Information Meeting: South Point Public Works Facility, Thursday, May 28, 2026: A public information meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m., May 28, 2026, via Zoom. Registration is required. This meeting is intended for the public to attend to learn more about the South Point Public Works Facility project.
- Budget Engagement Sessions – June 2, 11, and 24: Madison residents are encouraged to attend three Budget Engagement Sessions this June. These public meetings will kick off the 2027 budget season and allow the community to engage with staff and elected leaders. These sessions are also an opportunity to learn more about the City Budget process and provide feedback to policymakers on priorities for Madison's future.

- The 2026 Spring Yard Waste Collection is Over, Curbside Set-Out Dates Return in the Fall: Do not set out yard waste and leaves for curbside collection again this spring. There is no curbside pickup of yard waste and leaves during the summer months.
- MPD crisis negotiators take part in conference, trainings: Between conferences and trainings, it was a week of continued education for members of the Madison Police Department's Crisis Negotiating Team.
- Nature Everywhere Day Returns to Madison June 5–7: The Nature Everywhere initiative is building nature-based programs in public libraries, supporting teachers through grants, providing resources to families, and advocating for more nature play across the region.
- 26th Annual Book Club Café to Feature Bestselling Author Paula McLain at Madison Public Library: Bestselling author Paula McLain(external) will headline the 26th Annual Book Club Café(external) fundraiser hosted by the Friends of Madison Public Library on Tuesday, June 9 at Central Library where she'll share her thoughts on writing, libraries, reading and book clubs.
- School Street Pilot Project: Marquette Elementary is the site of Madison's School Street Pilot Project. Beginning Monday, May 18th and continuing every school day through Wednesday, June 10th, Jenifer Street, between Thornton Avenue and Rogers Street, will be closed during morning student arrival from 7:00am - 8:00am and afternoon student dismissal from 2:00pm - 3:00pm (1:00pm - 2:00pm on Mondays). This temporary street closure is intended to support a safer walking and biking environment for young students.
- There's Still Time to Share Feedback on MMSD's Building for the Future Process: The Madison Metropolitan School District seeks the public's feedback on their boundary review process. Even if you weren't able to join any of the community meetings, you can still provide feedback via this survey. Whether or not you have children in school, your perspective is important, as this boundary review may shape the future of school attendance and housing in our community.

- Frank Lloyd Wright House Concert Tour - Monona Terrace, Wednesday, May 27, 2026:Grammy Award-winning cellist, singer, and composer Mike Block brings his dynamic solo show to Monona Terrace's Lecture Hall for an exclusive, free performance.
- Representative Pocan will be holding a town hall on May 28th at 6pm at the Labor Temple on Park Street. Please bring your questions for our congressional representative!
- School Vaccination Clinic at Holtzman Center, Saturday, May 30, 2026: In partnership with SSM Health, GHC, UW-Health, and Madison Metropolitan School District, Public Health Madison & Dane County is offering free vaccines for school aged kids 5 and older.
- Summer Nights, Saturday, May 30, 2026: Summer Nights at Westmorland Park features and exciting family friendly line-up of entertainers and musical performers.
- Madison Bike Week is May 30-June 7: Get ready for the biggest biking celebration in town! The week is all about riding anywhere—to work, to school, to the library—or simply to feel the warm wind blowing through your hair. Check out fun opportunities to connect with fellow bikers and City of Madison staff throughout the week!
- Public Information Meeting on Data Center Moratorium, June 3, 5:30-7pm. This meeting is being held to provide an update on the authority and tools the City has to regulate data centers, the research being done by City staff, the potential impacts of data centers the City is considering in its analysis, and a timeline for a draft policy proposal. City officials will take questions and seek input from the public after an informational presentation.
- The Frank Lloyd Wright Unitarian Meeting House is turning 75 this year. There will be a series of events June 5-7 at this historic structure. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn more about the history and challenges of this architectural masterpiece.

- Joint Campus Area Committee: The Joint Campus Area Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, May 28, at 4:45 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include an update on the Regent Street reconstruction.
