The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on May 29 to 6:00am on June 1 we received 1,421 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • West: 194
  • Other: 26

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, May 29:

Priority calls only from 7:29pm to 8:27pm due to calls for service. 

  • 3:03am – City-Wide – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen. UWPD locate the vehicle heading SB on John Nolen Drive.  They lose sight of the vehicle. MPD observed the vehicle in the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant. An officer exited the squad in an attempt to put spikes in place. Another officer in a squad activated their emergency lights to initiate the stop. The driver intentionally drove toward the officer. The officer in the squad was able to quickly move the vehicle in order to prevent the other officer from being struck. The driver/stolen auto fled after striking the squad. Vehicle was pursued and then terminated. Vehicle was later located unoccupied. Investigation continuing.  
  • 6:18am – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. A knife was mentioned being involved but this could not be verified. A disturbance was found to have taken place and the subject was identified as the primary aggressor.  The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.  
  • 9:42am – Midtown – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. median crash (EB Beltline/Verona Rd). A 54-year-old female subject/driver was transported to a local hospital with a serious non-life threatening injury. Video of the crash was obtained and reviewed. The driver was observed drifting, overcorrecting, striking the median, rebounding into traffic, and hitting the median again. No other vehicles involved. Traffic citations issued to the driver.
  • 10:34am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a pulseless non-breathing subject (78-year-old male). The subject was pronounced deceased. Decedent had health/medical concerns. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  
  • 10:24am – South – Attempt to Locate Subject: Officers were advised that a subject was in need of being located/picked up on a body attachment through a local mental health provider. Subject contacted, detained, and transported to a local hospital. Placement pending.  
  • 1:20pm – Central – Runaway Juvenile Located: A parent of a missing runaway reported the location of where the juvenile was.  Contact made with the juvenile. Family members on scene. Chaotic scene with family wanting to fight one another and reports of abuse being made. Child Protective Services contacted. Safety plan put into place.
  • 3:04pm – Central – Exposure: Officers responded to Peace Park for a report of a 36-year-old female engaged in sexual inappropriate behaviors in public. The subject was arrested for public indecency and threats to law enforcement.  
  • 5:06pm – Central – Check Person: Officers was requested for a preserve the peace at a residence where a mental health provider was on scene with a subject who was naked and in the street. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Final outcome pending.   
  • 9:19pm – South – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers received a sexual assault of a child report. CPS plugged in. Investigation continuing.  
  • 10:18pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 31-year-old female subject entered a business, observed an officer, and made some concerning suspicious comments. The subject returned and approached the officer with a pocket knife with the blade extended. The subject was told to drop the knife and she complied. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed.  

Saturday, May 30:

Priority calls only from 12:36pm to 4:03pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 10pm to 11:20pm due to calls for service. 

  • 12:58am – Central – Domestic Disturbance: An officer observed a 19-year-old female subject pull a victim to the ground and punch them. The subject fled on foot but was apprehended. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, and resisting.  
  • 2:45am – West – Sexual Assault: Officers received a report of a sexual assault. Investigation continuing.  
  • 6:15am – East – Crash: Officers responded to a motorcycle vs deer crash (Femrite Dr/Luds Ln).  Motorcyclist sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.  
  • 8:01am – East – Domestic Disturbance: A 17-year-old female subject was at a family's member home, got upset, and violently made a mess in the home. The subject fled before officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Subject remains at-large.  
  • 10:49am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject (59-year-old male) who had not been heard from in a few days. Entry made and the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
  • 12:13pm – East – Weapons Offense: A caller/victim reported being stabbed. Contact made with the victim at a local hospital. A suspect was identified. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect, who remains at-large. Victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.
  • 12:32pm – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 41-year-old male subject who approached a person he did not know and started yelling obscenities. The victim reported feeling scared. The subject was contacted. The subject denied saying anything. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, misdemeanor bail jumping, and felony bail jumping.  
  • 2:23pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 45-year-old female subject. The victim had visible injuries. The female subject was contacted and not cooperative with officers. She was arrested for domestic battery and resisting.  
  • 3:26pm – East – Drug Incident: A 31-year-old female subject was at a local hospital being seen when she went into a bathroom, used drugs, and went unresponsive. The subject was located with a tourniquet on her arm and a needle in her arm. Naloxone administered. The subject admitted to using heroin. She was issued a felony order-in for possession of Schedule I controlled substances. A 36-year-old male subject, who was with the female, was arrested on a probation hold.  
  • 7:14pm – South – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject sitting on the ledge of the Beltline bridge (Beltline/Park St). It was reported that the subject was making suicidal statements. The subject came down from the ledge voluntarily but refused to go to the hospital. Local mental health provider consulted. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Subject is voluntary and officers were able to disengage.
  • 9:20pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects – they were contacted, cited, and released. It was then determined however that one of the involved subjects (40-year-old female subject) was intoxicated and has an infant in her care. CPS contacted. CPS advised MPD they would be taking custody of the child. The subject was contacted by officers and she became resistant and aggressive. The subject was detained/taken into custody. The subject kicked an officer. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement, threats to law enforcement, and child neglect.   
  • 10:03pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance with a report of a gun involved. Subjects contacted/interviewed.  No gun located/recovered. A 20-year-old male subject was contacted during the investigation. The subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.  

Sunday, May 31:

Priority calls only from 12:27am to 4:33am due to calls for service. 

  • 12:25am – West – Non-Residential Burglary: Officers responded to the mall for an alarm. A door is located shattered. Store cleared. Investigation continuing.  
  • 2:17am – North – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject laying in the roadway (E. Washington Ave/Zeier Rd). The subject was located with facial injuries. Language barrier in place. Information obtained that the subject was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. City cameras picked up the hit-and-run. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.   
  • 4:50am – South – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential burglary involving a known acquaintance (27-year-old male) to the homeowner/resident. The subject resisted officers upon contact. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to dwelling, and resisting.  
  • 9:45am – East – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention. The subject was placed at a local facility and officers disengaged.  
  • 11:22am – East – Missing Adult: A 20-year-old male subject was reported missing from their group home. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was entered as missing in the appropriate databases. *Subject located and returned to their group home.
  • 12:20pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to ongoing threats and disturbances involving a 26-year-old male subject. The subject and victim are no longer together. The subject is reportedly stalking the victim, threatening to share/expose photos, texts/calls continuously. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. The subject was contacted and arrested for domestic stalking, domestic unlawful use of computer communication device, domestic disorderly conduct, domestic sexual extortion, and a probation violation.
  • 2:32pm – Midtown – Missing Adult: A 66-year-old male subject was reported as missing from their group home. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.  
  • 8:31pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject (46-year-old female) passed out. MFD also responded. When officers began arriving on scene the subject tried to walk away. Officers gave commands to the subject to stop and she refused. Officers went to detain the subject and she resisted. The subject was arrested for resisting and outstanding warrants.
  • 10:59pm – South – Intoxicated Driver: Caller reported a driver (44-year-old male) was driving against traffic (NB in the SB lanes of Fish Hatchery Rd). The driver ran a red light and entered the Beltline. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver scraped the barrier wall as it pulled over. The driver was found to be impaired and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).

Monday, June 1:

  • 12:26am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old female subject on S. Blair St. The subject got into an argument with the victim and threw the victim out of their wheelchair. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, obstruction, trespassing, possession of a prescription drug, state battery, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
  • 12:40am – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report that a child was thrown over a railing at a residence. This was not the case, but the 27-year-old male subject officers had contact with had probable cause for their arrest for a disturbance that occurred earlier in the evening. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts).
