- The Juneteenth flag will be raised at the state capital on Saturday, June 20th between 12:00 PM-12:40 PM at the East Main St. side of the capital. And, on Friday, the official holiday, city, state and federal offices (except emergency services) will be closed.
- Recent stormy weather presented many neighborhoods with up-rooted trees, fallen treen limbs and other assorted debris. Streets Division is very much aware and will be making their regularly scheduled brush collection in addition to storm debris. Your patience is requested. Move debris to the terrace and away from the street.
- The next budget session at Vel Phillips Memorial High School has been rescheduled for July, 16th. Updates to follow closer to the scheduled date.
Boards, Commissions & Committee Meetings

- Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place on Monday, June 15, at 4:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include authorizing an application for a grant to enhance public transportation for seniors and people with disabilities.
- Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m. in virtual format. Agenda items include requests related to Tax Incremental Financing Districts in Districts 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 19.

Public Information Meetings (PIMs)
- Pathways to 2050: Public Involvement Meeting (Virtual), Monday, June 15: The Greater Madison MPO is beginning work on an update to the region's long-range transportation plan, which will help guide transportation priorities and investments across the Greater Madison region over the next 20–30 years.
- If your travels take you through the Mineral Pt. Midvale Blvd to University Avenue corridor, please note: A section of Midvale Boulevard will be restricted to one Lane in each direction. Expect delays for resurfacing that will begin on July 6th. And yes, there will be supplies and weather-related hiccups that will delay completion of the project. Plan for alternative routes.
- Vision Zero Madison Releases New Progress Report: The City of Madison released the 2023-2024 Vision Zero Madison Progress Report, providing an update on the community's efforts to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injuries on Madison streets while creating safer travel for all road users.
- Congrats Buckets! Police equine Buckets earned his badge during special ceremony: The Madison Police Department celebrated the newest member of the mounted police patrol unit. Buckets, a Clydesdale standing at 17 hands and one good looking equine, was honored during a private badge ceremony earlier this month alongside the students of Blessed Sacrament School.
- Alder Badri Lankella (District 7) will continue his virtual learning sessions on Wednesday, June 17, from 12 PM to 1 PM. He will be joined by Aeiramique Glass, the Interim Independent Police Monitor.
- Westbound W. Dayton Street Closed for Sanitary Sewer Work from June 15 to July 17: Starting at 8:00am on Monday June 15, R.G Huston will be performing sanitary replacement on a segment of W. Dayton Street, from N. Frances Street to N. Lake Street. During this stage of construction, westbound W. Dayton Street will be closed. If your travels take place in that area, consider alternative travel plans.
- As a Community, We Can Prevent Traffic Fatalities in Madison: We need our whole community to be part of the solution by educating ourselves and each other about the dangers of speeding and reckless driving. Curb your appetite for speeding. A speeder's “I'm sorry" or his/her thoughts and prayers for the family and the deceased is so disingenuous!
- City of Madison Mourns the Loss of Michael Johnson: Michael's generosity and inspiring work have made Madison a better place. On Friday (June 19th) High Point Church, 7702 Old Sauk Rd) will host a Life & Legacy Celebration at 12:00 PM.
- Road Closure – Valley View Rd: Starting on Monday, June 15, Parisi Construction will close a section of Valley View Road, from Tall Pines Way to White Sky Pass, to continue progress on the 1000 Oaks project. This full excavation closure is expected to last seven weeks.

- Monday Mornings at The Glen, Monday, June 15 (This event occurs on multiple dates): Enjoy The Glen for a stroll, nature, workout or leashed dog walk from sunrise to 8:00 am. Tee times resume at hole #1 at 8:00am. Visitors should be alert for golf balls and golfers while exiting the course.
- Lakeside Kids: Trinity Irish Dancers, Tuesday, June 16: Join us for another exiting summer season of Lakeside Kids! – a free interactive series featuring science, culture, arts and entertainment. Designed for kids ages 4 and up. Lakeside Kids! provides hands-on fun and learning in an engaging and dynamic setting.
- Mobile Madison | Hoppers (movie), Tuesday, June 16: Join Mobile Madison partners for an evening of fun. Enjoy free snacks, books, art activities, fishing games, fitness and more. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for the movie in the park!
- Mobile Madison | Goat (movie), Wednesday, June 17: Join Mobile Madison partners for an evening of fun. Enjoy free snacks, books, art activities, fishing games, fitness and more. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs for the movie in the park!
- Learn to Kayak, Wednesday, June 17: Learn to Kayak with Madison Boats! Register online for this free class offered at Marshall Park. All ages are welcome and most appropriate for ages 10 and older. Anyone under 18 must have a guardian present and may need to be in the kayak with child.
- Grateful Dead Night, Wednesday, June 17: Come out to the golf course and enjoy the sounds of the Grateful Dead as DJ Nate Kudick spins your favorite classics throughout the evening. Grab a drink, relax with friends, and take advantage of the putting course while soaking in the vibes.
- Parks Alive | Owl Creek Park, Thursday, June 18: Parks Alive is back this year with more of what you love! Visit your local park and share in fun, family friendly activities while building connections with neighbors and creating memories with friends.
- Capitol City Band Concerts - 58th Season, Thursday, June 18 (This event occurs on multiple dates): The Capitol City Band's 58th season begins June 18 at the Rennebohm Park Shelter. Bring a chair and enjoy live music on Thursdays at 7:00 PM through August 20.
- Concerts on the Rooftop: Kinfolk (R & B/Soul), Thursday, June 18: Kinfolk is an American R&B band based in Madison, playing an array of traditional jazz to mainstream R&B and rock-based music to funk, Latin, and Jamaican-based rhythms, as well as a variety of soulful original tunes.
- Junction Ridge Farmers' Market, Friday, June 19 (This event occurs on multiple dates): Find fresh, local products at the JRNA Farmers' Market.
- Bird & Nature Adventures | Starkweather Creek Area, Saturday, June 20: Paddle the Creek ~ Join Aaron Cutler and Friends of Starkweather Creek for a free fun family friendly paddle along Starkweather Creek. Some canoes provided first come first served, bring your own canoe or kayak if you have one.
- Bird & Nature Adventures | Warner Park, Sunday, June 21: Imagine June 2050 ~ As summer heats up with climate change what will Warner Park look and feel like in 2054? What can we individually and collectively support and do to help mitigate those impacts?
- Make Music Madison – Monona, Sunday, June 21: Swing into summer with Golf Madison Parks on June 21 for a day of music, community, and great vibes at our beautiful Monon Golf Course. We're celebrating the season by hosting talented local artists, bringing vibrant live music to our clubhouse patios all afternoon.
