The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on June 16 to 6:00am on June 17, we received 487 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 102
  • East: 96
  • Midtown: 67  
  • North: 93
  • South: 59
  • West: 60
  • Other: 10

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Tuesday, June 16:

  • 7:55am – East – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot overnight. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 
  • 12:15pm – North – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers received a sexual assault of a child report. CPS plugged in. Investigation continuing.
  • 2:32pm – South – Recovered Stolen Auto: A stolen vehicle was located/recovered unoccupied at Center/Baird.
  • 11:25pm – West – Weapons Offense: An officer in the area of Balsam/Leland Dr heard possible gunshots. Multiple callers reported to dispatch that they also heard gunshots. Areas checked. An occupied vehicle was found struck by a bullet. No injuries sustained. Investigation continuing.

Wednesday, June 17:

  • 1:30am – Central – Intoxicated Driver: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver (39-year-old male) was found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense). The subject was also arrested on a parole violation.
  • 2:10am – South – Check Person: An officer observed a subject lying on the sidewalk. The subject was contacted. The subject was bleeding, had difficulty standing, and had a bottle of liquor on them. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for medical care. Officers disengaged.
