The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on July 21 to 6:00am on July 22, we received 510 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

• Central: 90
• East: 124
• Midtown: 85  
• North: 81
• South: 50
• West: 69
• Other: 11

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, July 21:

Priority calls only from 8:27pm to 11:01pm due to calls for service. 

 5:36am – Central – Armed Robbery: A senior citizen was out for a walk when a man tried to grab her bag and pushed her to the ground. He ran off with some of her personal property. Officers located him nearby, holding the bag he stole from the woman. The 50-year-old suspect was arrested for strong armed robbery, battery to an elder person, and disorderly conduct. Incident Report completed. 

• 9:08am – West –Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen. Shattered glass was found in the area. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 
• 10:06am – East – Check Person: An adult left their group home, was picked up by an unknown person, and dropped off at a store where they reported not liking their group home. Adult Protective Services contacted. Final outcome pending. 
• 11:22am – West – Non-Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a burglary of a business with the suspect no longer on scene. Suspect identified and remains at-large. Charges developed to arrest/charge the suspect.
• 12:17pm – East – Check Person: Officers responded to check the welfare of a subject who made threats to harm/kill their partner. The subject was located and taken into protective custody. An emergency detention was sought/approved at a local hospital. The subject was transported/placed at a facility.
• 3:10pm – Midtown – Weapons Offense: Two victims were approached by two male subjects. One of the male subjects displayed a firearm when the victim would not share their social media information. Male subjects not on scene when officers arrived. Investigation continuing.
• 4:17pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance involving a 24-year-old male subject (not on scene). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Attempts were made to contact the subject without success. 
• 7:37pm – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of State Street. A 36-year-old male subject was aggressive with a bouncer and head butted him. A 31-year-old male subject who was not involved in this situation inserted himself and had a knife. The 36-year-old subject struck a bouncer in the face numerous times. They also punched an officer in the face several times. Another officer, while taking the subject to the ground, struck their head on the concrete. 2 officers injured. Both subjects arrested on numerous charges to include: resisting, battery to law enforcement, battery, discharge of bodily fluids at public safety worker, disorderly conduct, misdemeanor bail jumping, and outstanding warrants.

Wednesday, July 22:

• 1:37am – Central – Sexual Assault: A victim invited their rideshare driver into their residence. The victim reported that they were sexually assaulted by this driver (36-year-old male). The subject was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault of an elder person, false imprisonment, lewd/lascivious behavior, trespass to dwelling, and disorderly conduct.
