The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on July 28 to 6:00am on July 29, we received 396 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 52
- East: 96
- Midtown: 61
- North: 71
- South: 43
- West: 61
- Other: 12
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Tuesday, July 28:
Priority calls only from 7:16am to 10:52am due to calls for service.
- 8:33am – East – Residential Burglary: Resident/victim reported a subject in their home yelling/cursing and throwing items. Officers made contact with a 65-year-old male subject who lives in the same complex but on the opposite side and a different floor. The subject was arrested for burglary.
- 9:04am – East – Armed Robbery: Officers responded to a convenience store in the 3800 block of E. Washington Ave for an armed robbery. The suspect displayed a weapon (knife/box cutter) and demanded cash. The suspect took off with cash and merchandise. The suspect fled on a bike. Investigation continuing.
- 9:34am – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request to arrest a 29-year-old female subject with an outstanding warrant. Information was provided that the subject was at the ARC Pre-Release Center. The subject was located, arrested, and transported to jail.
- 1:30pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: An armed robbery from 7/25 took place and officers developed probable cause to arrest a 16-year-old male subject. The subject was contacted, arrested, and conveyed to the Juvenile Reception Center for armed robbery. A facsimile firearm was located/recovered.
- 12:04pm – Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a possible suicide death. A 36-year-old male subject was located in critical condition. EMS was able to get a pulse and the subject was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 12:54pm – South – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers received a request to locate/take into protective custody a subject with a Chapter 51 return. The subject was located and transported to a local hospital. Transport to Winnebago pending.
- 8:29pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A traffic stop was conducted. The rear passenger (19-year-old male) got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. He discarded a loaded handgun on the ground. He was apprehended and arrested for resisting, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a machine gun.
- 10:02pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct (2 counts), violation of a no contact order, and felony bail jumping.
Wednesday, July 29:
- 1:57am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject (41-year-old male) walking on the Beltline. The subject was located and dialogue was attempted. The subject was yelling and uncooperative with officers. The subject continued walking away and refused to identify himself. The subject was detained. The subject continued to be uncooperative and resistive. The subject was transported to jail where he was identified and found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested on the warrant, obstruction, resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cocaine.
