The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on July 30 to 6:00am on July 31, we received 437 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

• Central: 84
• East: 81
• Midtown: 72
• North: 95
• South: 45
• West: 53
• Other: 7

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, July 30:

Priority calls only from 9:07am to 11:38am and from 6:26pm to 9:55pm due to calls for service.

• 5:11am - Central – Battery: Officers responded to the 500 block of State St where the victim reported he was battered. Officers reviewed city camera footage which showed an unidentified male suspect sit on a bench next to the victim and then slam the victim's head against the bench. The suspect repeatedly punched and kicked the victim. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for battery to an elder and disorderly conduct. Investigation continuing.
• 6:10am - North – Strong Arm Robbery: Officers responded to a gas station to contact a victim who had facial injuries. The victim reported he was repeatedly kicked and some valuables were stolen from him. He did not provide any suspect information. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect, once identified, for robbery with use of force and battery. Investigation continuing.
• 8:01am - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to outside an apartment building where the 56-year-old female suspect repeatedly struck the victim while armed with a screwdriver. The suspect was arrested and transported to a hospital. The suspect was charged with battery to an elder and disorderly conduct while armed.
• 8:54am - East – Death Investigation: Staff at a senior living facility reported that a 100-year-old man had passed away. Nothing suspicious on scene. 
• 3:29pm - North – Traffic Crash: Officers responded to the intersection of N Sherman Ave and Trailsway where the 41-year-old female driver/suspect struck a pedestrian pushing a stroller in a crosswalk. The suspect was cited for multiple traffic violations.
• 4:51pm - East – Fraud: Officers responded to a car dealership where the 18- and 33-year-old male suspects were using fraudulent checks to purchase vehicles. The suspects were arrested and charged with forgery.
• 5:14pm - Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to Whole Foods where an unidentified male suspect was yelling, swearing, hitting and spitting on people. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, battery, attempted battery to LE, and resisting causing injury.
• 7:00pm - East – Hit and Run Crash: Officers responded to the Thorp St and Fair Oaks Ave intersection where a vehicle struck a house. Witnesses reported that the driver and passenger fled the scene on foot. The 37-year-old male suspect/driver was apprehended and officers discovered he had warrants for his arrest. The male suspect was conveyed to jail and cited for multiple traffic violations. Officers determined that the 32-year-old female passenger also has warrants for her arrest. She remains at large.
• 10:17pm - East – Damage to Property: Officers responded to Finish Line Towing where the 46-year-old male suspect got into his car which was impounded and rammed it through the front gate. The suspect also crashed his car down the road as he fled the scene. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for damage to property, disorderly conduct and 2nd degree reckless endangerment. Suspect is at large.

Friday, July 31:

• 1:46am - Central – Battery:  Officers on patrol on State St witnessed the 18-year-old male suspect punching the victim. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery.
