The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on August 6 to 6:00am on August 7, we received 434 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 97
  • East: 100
  • Midtown: 69
  • North: 64
  • South: 47
  • West: 43
  • Other: 14

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, August 6:

Priority calls only from 2:21pm to 3:15pm and from 11:50pm to 12:55am due to calls for service.

  • 3:22am - South – Adult Arrested Person: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being operated by a 34-year-old male suspect who had probable cause for his arrest. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the jail. (This was a late call that did not make the previous 24-hour cycle.)
  • 6:03am - East – Attempted Suicide: Callers to dispatch reported seeing a man with severe facial injuries at a truck. Officers responded with MFD paramedics, who transported the man to the hospital. The man appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
  • 2:12pm - East – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to where a man was armed with a knife and cutting himself. Officers placed the man into custody and MFD paramedics transported him to the hospital. Journey Mental Health was informed.
  • 5:48pm - Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a park where the 50-year-old male suspect yelled at the victim and pushed her to the ground. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and false imprisonment.
  • 10:24pm - East – Weapons Offense/OMVWI: A caller to dispatch reported a road rage incident in which the other driver had pointed a gun out his window. Officers located the 54-year-old male suspect who was arrested for OWI 3rd offense, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, and going armed while intoxicated. Officers seized two firearms from the suspect's vehicle.
  • 11:12pm - South – Traffic Crash: Officers responded to the beltline at Park St where a man ran into traffic and was hit by a semi truck. The man succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the semi was cooperative with the investigation.

Friday, August 7:

  • 3:42am - East – OMVWI: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle and learned that the 63-year-old male driver had a revoked DL with 5 previous OWI offenses. The suspect performed poorly on SFST and was arrested and charged with OWI 6th.
