New Men's Shelter Open House
Event Description
The new Men's Shelter at 1904 Bartillon Drive will begin serving our community on September 1st. Before that transition occurs, the City wants to invite the public to see the facility. An Open House is scheduled for Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.
This is an opportunity to tour the shelter and learn about some of its key design features and how they will help improve support for men in Dane County who experience homelessness. In addition to offering a safer and more functional shelter environment, the new facility will make possible better access to supportive services, including case management, employment assistance, mental health services, and other resources that help shelter users move toward stable housing.
Representatives from Dane County, the City of Madison, Porchlight, Inc. (the shelter operator), and Shelter Friends of Dane County will be available throughout the event to answer questions and share information about the new shelter and the services it will provide.
There is no formal program or presentation scheduled. Community members are welcome to stop by any time between 4:30pm and 6:30pm to tour the facility and speak with staff.
