• Old Middleton Road Underpass of WSOR Railroad, Wednesday, August 26: The City is proposing a shared use path project to extend the existing University Crossing Bike Path towards Old Middleton Road and Craig Ave. The project includes an underpass of the WSOR Railroad. There is a virtual public information meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., Aug. 26, 2026, via Zoom. Registration prior is required.

• Labor Day is Coming Up – Do You Know Your Collection Schedule?: Don't let the holidays (or your neighbors) trip you up.  Get your collection schedule from the Streets Division so you know when to put the trash and recycling carts out for pickup. We will mail you a paper copy as well if you prefer. Just contact our offices.

• Common Council – Discussion: The Common Council discussion will take place on Monday, August 24, at 5:00 p.m. in virtual format. The topic of the discussion is the City's approach to recent protests and the subsequent re-opening of Williamson & Baldwin St.

Public Information Meetings (PIMs)

• Door Creek Watershed Study No. 3, Tuesday, August 25: The City of Madison is completing a watershed study in the Door Creek watershed (as shown below). The City of Madison contracted with an engineering consulting firm to complete the study. The watershed study will identify causes of existing flooding and then look at potential solutions to try to reduce flooding. A public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Aug. 25, 2026, via Zoom. Registration prior is required. 
• Dickson Pl, Irwin Pl, Dodge St, Carver St, Martin St Reconstruction, Thursday, August 27: The City of Madison is planning to reconstruct streets and utilities within the Lake Forest neighborhood over three phases of construction. A public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Aug. 27, 2026, via Zoom. Registration prior is required.

• Walter Street at Milwaukee Street to close August 24–26 for Utility Work: From Monday August 24 to Wednesday August 26, Integrity Grading and Excavation will close Walter Street at Milwaukee Street for utility installation for a private development project. [posted August 20, 2026]

• Madison Public Libraries Closed for Labor Day, Sunday Hours Return, and More: All library locations will be closed on September 7 for Labor Day. Sunday hours will return to three Libraries on Sunday, September 13. The Dream Bus will be off the road from August 24 to September 7, returning with a new route for the fall.
