The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on August 21 to 6:00am on August 24 we received 1,202 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

- Other: 22
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Friday, August 21:
Priority calls only from 4:01pm to 8:56pm due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 11:39pm to 12:22am due to calls for service.
- 7:23am – West – Domestic Disturbance: Caller reported observing a video from a family member that involved violence/domestic abuse. Victim not willing to talk with officers. Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the suspect, who remains at-large.
- 9:43am – East – Check Person: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a subject who suffers from mental health conditions and is not taking their medications. The subject threatened the other person and then left the residence. Subject contacted by officers. The subject was taken into protective custody. CARES consulted. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Criminal charges forthcoming. An emergency detention was sought/supported. The subject was transported to Winnebago.
- 3:53pm – West – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a report of a subject shot in the foot. Officers made contact with numerous subjects, who were all uncooperative. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Scene located. The identity of the suspect was provided to officers. Investigation continuing.
- 7:40pm – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving 2 subjects (54-year-old female and 39-year-old male). The female subject was arrested for strangulation, disorderly conduct, and false imprisonment. The male subject was arrested for criminal trespassing to dwelling and a DOC hold. Additional interviews to take place. Investigation continuing.
- 9:14pm – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 49-year-old female subject refused treatment at a local hospital and then refused to leave the premises. The subject punched an officer during their contact. The subject was arrested for battery to law enforcement and trespassing.
Saturday, August 22:
- 2:23am – North – Residential Burglary: Homeowner reported 2 male subjects broke into their home. Nothing reported to be missing/stolen. Investigation continuing.
- 12:59pm – East – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a 45-year-old female subject. Entry made to the residence. Subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Autopsy pending.
- 3:07pm – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (34-year-old male). Evidence of drug use observed. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Medical Examiner's office responded.
- 3:11pm – North – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a suspicious subject who was described as “shirtless and in an agitated state." Caller described the subject as walking around with their pants down, pointing finger guns, and threatening to kill the caller's dog. The subject was contacted by officers and placed into protective custody. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health/emergency detention evaluation. Emergency detention supported. The subject was conveyed to Winnebago for placement.
- 5:26pm – East – Strong Armed Robbery: The victim reported being robbed of shoes they were attempting to sell. Investigation continuing.
- 9:26pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
- 10:17pm – North – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject armed with a knife. A victim sustained a superficial injury during the disturbance. The subject was arrested for 1st degree reckless endangering safety, disorderly conduct while armed, and false imprisonment.
Sunday, August 23:
Priority calls only from 4:06pm to 7:04pm due to calls for service.
- 1:56am – East – Recovered Stolen Vehicle: A stolen vehicle was located unoccupied (Sycamore/Artisan). Registered owner notified.
- 3:21am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 14-year-old male subject was involved in several disturbances throughout the evening (500 block of State St). The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.
- 11:24am – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
- 2:11pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 47-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
- 2:28pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a 23-year-old male subject. Subject located deceased at their home. Medical Examiner's office responds. Autopsy pending.
- 4:46pm – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Attempts were made to contact the subject, without success. Phone contact ultimately made with the subject who denied being suicidal. The subject was provided with resources to contact if they felt it was necessary. No legal grounds for additional police intervention so officers disengaged.
- 5:46pm – East – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of two subjects (43-year-old female and 41-year-old female) slumped over in a running vehicle in a parking lot. Contact was made with both subjects. The driver (male subject) was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (5th offense), possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts), felony bail jumping (2 counts), and an active warrant. The female subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
- 8:21pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a business for a disturbance caused by a 24-year-old male subject. The subject left the business and went to another business where they ate food, drank alcohol, and changed into different clothes (without paying). The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery. The subject was cited for retail theft.
- 8:41pm – East – Juvenile Arrest: The Juvenile Reception Center requested that officers locate/detain a 15-year-old female subject who had left her placement residence. The subject was located and detained. The subject yelled, kicked an officer, and attempted to spit on an officer. The subject was arrested for battery to law enforcement and threats to law enforcement.
- 10:20pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Beacon for a disturbance involving a 46-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for substantial battery, disorderly conduct, resisting, and threats to law enforcement.
Monday, August 24:
- 12:53am – Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a group home for a resident with a knife who was threatening staff. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health/emergency detention evaluation. Emergency detention supported. Placement pending.
