The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on September 10 to 6:00am on September 11, we received 432 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 86
  • East: 100
  • Midtown: 64
  • North: 89
  • South: 34
  • West: 53
  • Other: 6

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, September 10:

Priority calls only from 12:27pm to 4:00pm and from 6:22pm to 8:24pm due to calls for service.

  • 6:02am - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a motel where during an argument, the 51-year-old male suspect threw a bottle at the victim, causing severe injuries. The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, disorderly conduct, and bail jumping.
  • 8:22am - South – Check Person: Officers made contact with a man who was reportedly suicidal. He agreed to be transported voluntarily to a hospital.
  • 9:47am - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a 56-year-old man. Officers discovered the man deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 2:25pm - Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 40-year-old female suspect struck the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with battery, trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • 5:49pm - South – Death Investigation: Officers responded to Penn Park where a 62-year-old man was found deceased after being reported missing the night before. Investigation continuing.
  • 9:48pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 32-year-old male suspect struck the victim and destroyed property. Officers determined that the suspect was the driver in a hit and run crash earlier in the evening. The suspect performed poorly on SFST and was arrested and charged with OWI 2nd, hit and run, domestic battery, domestic disorderly conduct and domestic damage to property.
  • 11:34pm - North – OMVWI: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving erratically. The 36-year-old female suspect performed poorly on SFST and was arrested for OWI 1st.

Friday, September 11:

  • 2:20am - Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers patrolling State St observed the 27-year-old male suspect pulling on the door handle to a locked MPD squad car. The suspect was arrested and charged with trespass to vehicle and multiple counts of bail jumping.
