The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on September 16 to 6:00am on September 17, we received 464 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 96
  • East: 98
  • Midtown: 71  
  • North: 77
  • South: 64
  • West: 51
  • Other: 7

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, September 16:

Priority calls only from 6:29am to 11:01pm due to calls for service. 

  • 6:24am – East – Crash: Officers responded to a crash on S. Stoughton Rd between Milwaukee St and Cottage Grove Rd. Single-vehicle crash with the sole occupant (driver) being transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver/vehicle appeared to have struck a guardrail and ended up on the other side of the road.  Investigation continuing. 
  • 8:52am – East – Missing Adult: Officers received a report of a missing subject (18-year-old female). Attempt to locate aired. The subject was entered as missing in the appropriate databases.  
  • 9:40am – Midtown – Stolen Auto: A rental vehicle was reported as unreturned/stolen. Address checked. Vehicle not located. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
  • 11:09am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to an odor complaint coming from a residence where the mail was also piling up.  Entry made to the residence and a subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Identity not known at this time due to the length of time it is believed the person has been deceased for. Nothing suspicious identified. Investigation continuing. 
  • 2:24pm – North – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was last known walking into a wooded area. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. Attempts made to locate/contact the subject went unsuccessful.

Thursday, September 17:

  • 12:33am – Central – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (24-year-old male). Evidence of drug-use observed. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
