The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on September 17 to 6:00am on September 18, we received 449 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 110
  • East: 112
  • Midtown: 50
  • North: 73
  • South: 41
  • West: 53
  • Other: 10

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, September 17:

Priority calls only from 12:42pm to 3:33pm, from 5:43pm to 6:37pm and from 7:38pm to 8:16pm due to calls for service.

  • 8:05am - East – Check Person: Officers responded to a residence where a woman with mental health issues requested a ride to the hospital. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health and transported the woman to a hospital. 
  • 11:39am - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence to check the welfare of a 70-year-old man. The man was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 4:17pm - West – Violation of Court Order: Officers responded to a residence where the 29-year-old male suspect was present despite being court ordered not to be on the premises. The suspect was arrested and charged with violating a court order.
  • 4:42pm - North – Theft: Officers responded to a business where the 28-year-old male suspect reached over the counter to take merchandise he didn't pay for. The suspect pushed an employee who confronted him. The suspect was arrested and charged with strong arm robbery.
  • 9:15pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 1200 block of Williamson St where the 31-year-old male suspect was seen trying to break into the Narcan box in front of the Social Justice Center. The suspect then entered the building and physically assaulted the caller who reported the attempted theft. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting and attempted battery.

Friday, September 18:

  • 12:37am - North – Traffic Crash: Officers responded to the intersection of American Family Dr and American Pkwy where a vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and collided with a light pole and caught on fire. The driver succumbed to his injuries while the passenger escaped with minor injuries.
  • 1:48am - Central – Local Ordinance Violation: Officers contacted the two female suspects (19 and 20 years old) several times throughout the evening regarding an illegal sound amplification device they were playing in the State St area. The suspects ignored the multiple warnings and were issued citations.
  • 2:03am - Central – Sex Offense Misc: The victim reported she was behind a business in the 400 block of State St when she saw the 55-year-old male suspect exposing himself. The suspect was arrested for lewd/lascivious behavior.
  • 2:25am - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 1600 block of E Washington Ave where the 42-year-old male suspect struck the victim with a metal object. The suspect was arrested and charged with substantial battery and disorderly conduct while armed.
