The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on September 28 to 6:00am on September 29, we received 468 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 89
  • East: 95
  • Midtown: 70  
  • North: 78
  • South: 56
  • West: 72
  • Other: 8

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, September 28:

Priority calls only from 12:58pm to 4:14pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 7:23pm to 12:42am due to calls for service. 

  • 5:58am – Central – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject who was intoxicated and possibly armed with a gun. The subject was contacted. No firearms were identified to have been involved. CARES responded and officers disengaged.  
  • 9:52am – Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers were requested to locate a subject for a Chapter 51 return. The subject was contacted, placed into protective custody, and transported to a local hospital. The subject was later transported to Winnebago. 
  • 3:15pm – East – Check Person: Officers received a request to locate a subject and take them into protective custody for an emergency detention evaluation. Attempts made to make contact were unsuccessful.
  • 7:06pm – North – Weapons Offense: The victim met up with a subject to sell a cell phone. The suspect stole the phone and 2 shots are fired. The suspect fled. Investigation continuing.
  • 9:14pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old male subject. The subject was not cooperative with officers and resisted them. The subject was taken to a local hospital for a medical clearance due to a taser deployment and the subject's intoxicated level. The subject continued to not cooperate at the hospital. The subject took out their IV which sprayed blood that resulted in a significant exposure for an officer. Charges forthcoming – domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, resisting, and discharge of bodily fluid on a public safety worker.
  • 9:50pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a disturbance occurring between two subjects. As officers arrived on scene they overhead the female subject (37-year-old) say to the male subject (32-year-old) that she saw child pornography on their phone. The female subject attempted to walk away as officers were telling her to stop. The female subject resisted. While this occurred, the male subject tried to take a swing at an officer. Both subjects actively resisted officers. An officer sustained a bite during the altercation. The male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct (2 counts), resisting (2 counts), attempted battery to law enforcement, battery to law enforcement, and discharge of bodily fluids at a public safety worker. His cell phones were seized as evidence. The female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 9:51pm – Midtown – Threats Complaint: Officers responded to a report of a threats complaint where a subject received a threatening video over social media. Investigation continuing.

Tuesday, September 29:

  • 2:24am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a series of 911 disconnects and made contact with a 40-year-old male subject who was standing under a No Trespassing sign screaming. The subject started to walk away as officers were approaching him. Officers told the subject to stop. The subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, misdemeanor bail jumping, and trespassing.
