The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00am on October 2 to 6:00am on October 5 we received 1,336 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

Friday, October 2:
Priority calls only from 9:45am to 4:55pm due to calls for service.
- 6:24am – West – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from a residential driveway. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. Investigation continuing.
- 7:35am – West – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential burglary with a vehicle stolen. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. Investigation continuing.
- 7:50am – West – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential burglary. A vehicle was stolen. Vehicle tracked and located unoccupied in Fitchburg. Investigation continuing.
- 8:44am – West – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential burglary with a vehicle stolen. The vehicle was tracked and located unoccupied. Investigation continuing.
- 9:23am – Central – Death Investigation: Officers responded to an apartment complex for an odor coming from a unit where the resident (43-year-old male) had not been since for several weeks. Entry made to the residence to check the welfare of the subject. The subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 3:28pm – South – Crash with Injuries: Officers responded to a report of a crash involving 7 vehicles with total blockage of the Beltline (EB). A 29-year-old male driver was observed on a dashcam tailgating another vehicle and ultimately rear-ending that vehicle which resulted in the multi-vehicle crash/blockage. An individual sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver was issued traffic citations.
- 3:32pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: An officer received a photo of a suspect from recent burglaries. Officers responded to the area of where the photo was taken. Two subjects (21-year-old male, 22-year-old male) were observed by officers whom needed contact. The subjects were contacted/detained. Both subjects were arrested for identity theft (party to a crime). Both subjects had guns on them. Additional follow-up necessary. Additional charges likely forthcoming.
- 5:29pm – West – Adult Arrested Person: A wanted subject (31-year-old male) was observed by an officer. The officer contacted the subject and detained him. A backpack was with the subject who was encouraging their child to take the backpack and leave the area. The backpack was seized and found to contain 83 grams of marijuana. The subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana and probable cause for several felony retail theft charges.
- 7:23pm – Midtown – Check Person: Officers were requested to take a subject into protective custody for an emergency detention evaluation. The subject was contacted, placed into protective custody, and transported to a local hospital. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago completed.
- 8:31pm – East – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residential burglary. A subject (45-year-old male) entered a home through a window, damaged several items, and threw the ashes of the homeowner's dog all over the living room. The subject left the residence and was caught on a neighbor's doorbell camera footage. Officers identified the subject. The subject had been arrested previously in the evening for trespassing. The subject was located and arrested for burglary and criminal damage to property. A DOC hold was also placed on the subject.
- 8:52pm – North – Shots Fired: Officers responded to the 2300 block of Independence Lane for numerous reports of shots fired. No reported injuries or property damage at this time. Officers canvassed the area but were not able to locate a potential scene at this time.
- 9:49pm – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 48-year-old male subject. The disturbance took place in a vehicle between the subject and their partner. The disturbance was verbal and physical. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, resisting, and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety. The subject was not cooperative with officers and this behavior continued at the jail to the point that he was placed in segregation.
Saturday, October 3:

- 7:13am – East – Check Person: Officers were requested to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject (55-year-old male). Entry made to the residence to check the welfare of the subject. The subject was located down and pulseless/non-breathing. Lifesaving measures were attempted, but they were not successful. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 9:31am – West – Death Investigation: Officers were requested to check the welfare of a 83-year-old female. The subject was located deceased at home. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 12:55pm – West – Check Area: Officers responded after two people walking were shot by a BB gun by subject(s) in a vehicle. Investigation continuing.
- 1:51pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: A 23-year-old male subject was banging on a neighbor's door threatening them. The subject was contacted and arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, and an outstanding felony warrant.
- 2:19pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a 60-year-old male subject. Entry made to the residence. The subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 3:23pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: An officer observed a disturbance involving 2 subjects. Contact made with the subjects. A 62-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and a probation violation.
- 5:23pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A business called to report a felony level repeat retail theft suspect (52-year-old male) was in their store. The subject was contacted and arrested for misdemeanor retail theft, misdemeanor bail jumping (4 counts), and felony bail jumping.
- 9:35pm – Central – Disturbance: 4 subjects were out walking when 3 youth on bikes stop and start a fight. The youth physically assaulted the victims and fled on their bikes. Investigation continuing.
- 9:36pm – Central – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a 41-year-old female subject passed out with a baby in a stroller next to her. The subject was determined to be intoxicated and unconscious. CPS notified. Baby turned over to the care of a family member. The subject was arrested for child neglect and a probation hold.
- 11:22pm – West – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to the 7000 block of Tree Lane for an argument involving a large group of people and a gunshot heard. A loaded handgun magazine was located by officers. Numerous subjects contacted. Little to no cooperation from those in the area. No reported injuries known. A bullet hole was located that went into a residence. Investigation continuing.
Sunday, October 4:
Priority calls only from 8:02am to 9:54am due to calls for service.

- 4:10am – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 37-year-old male subject. The victim sustained visible injuries. The subject fled prior to officers arriving on scene. Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
- 8:57am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested MPD locate/arrest a client (40-year-old male) of theirs for violating the terms of their supervision. The subject was contacted, arrested, and transported to jail.
- 10:39am – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. The victim sustained injurie that required medical care. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
- 2:05pm – West – Traffic Incident: A traffic stop was conducted. There were several unrestrained children in the backseat. The driver had a suspended driver's license. The passenger (23-year-old male) fled from the stop on foot. The subject was located/arrested for outstanding warrants (4). The driver was issued citations for operating while suspended and improper left turn.
- 3:08pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old female subject. A verbal argument started which led to the subject arming herself with a golf club. The subject swung the golf club towards the victim, with children present. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and reckless driving.
- 6:46pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old female subject. The subject arrived at a family member's residence and caused a disturbance. The subject was screaming, yelling, and threatening a family member. The subject refused to leave the residence/premises. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and felony bail jumping.
- 7:22pm – West – Traffic Arrest: An officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had fled. The registered owner stated the vehicle was stolen by a 25-year-old male subject (known to the family). The vehicle was later located unoccupied. There were bullet holes in the vehicle. Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
- 8:49pm – North – Crash: A driver/vehicle struck the victim who was sitting on their bicycle on a sidewalk which resulted in the victim sustaining significant injuries (non-life threatening). The driver/vehicle did not remain on scene. The suspect vehicle was located by officers. Contact made at the register owner's residence where the driver (31-year-old male) was located hiding in a closet. The subject was arrested for hit and run causing injury and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing great bodily injury.
Monday, October 5:
- 1:06am – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 19-year-old male subject. The victim sustained visible injuries. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
