Introducing New ‘Community Resilience Hubs’ in Madison

posted

When disruptions to daily life happen, it can be difficult to find the resources you need.

The City of Madison and the Madison Fire Department Emergency Management Unit are excited to introduce new Community Resilience Hubs that can support residents during significant disruptions.

Here in Madison, we may experience disruptions caused by severe weather, extreme temperatures, power outages, poor air quality, and floods. Community Resilience Hubs can provide information and resources to help residents respond and recover close to home.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County's Allied Family Center and Wisconsin Youth Company's Elver Park Neighborhood Center are the first two organizations to join our Community Resilience Hub Network.

These organizations already provide trusted, local community spaces that are familiar to residents. Now, they can expand on their capabilities to support neighborhoods during emergencies. This could include distribution of supplies, providing a place to charge a device, relief from the elements, or disaster recovery resources.

We look forward to expanding the Community Resilient Hub network and collaborating with other community organizations that want to serve their neighbors in this capacity.
