The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on October 5 to 6:00am on October 6, we received 450 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 71
  • East: 97
  • Midtown: 68  
  • North: 86
  • South: 56
  • West: 56
  • Other: 16

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, October 5:

Priority calls only from 1:24pm to 3:32pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 6:26pm to 11:03pm due to calls for service. 

  • 5:35am – Midtown – Disturbance: Two subjects were arguing in a vehicle while using drugs. A 53-year-old female subject started to physically assault the other subject/victim in the vehicle with a cane. The victim sustained visible injuries. The subject was arrested for substantial battery. 
  • 9:06am – North – Damage to Property: Officers responded to a business after they located a bullet hole. Photos taken. 
  • 9:34am – Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a business for a male subject entering their foyer screaming at staff that they were all “murderers." The subject left prior to officers arriving. Investigation continuing.
  • 1:23pm – Weste – Domestic Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 36-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 2:41pm – West – Check: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a subject with mental health concerns that ran away from home. When officers arrived, the subject had returned home and was being held down by a family member. Officers worked with the family to get the subject to calm down and to take their medication. Mental health resources consulted. Officers disengaged.
  • 5:15pm – Midtown – Death Investigation:  Officers responded to a residence for a report of 73-year-old male subject not breathing. Lifesaving measures attempted, but not successful. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 6:12pm – West – Disturbance: Officers were dispatched earlier in the day to an address for a disturbance that involved a victim being assaulted and pepper sprayed. Descriptions were provided for the subjects involved. Officers were dispatched to the same address later in the day for another disturbance involving the same subjects. A 17-year-old female subject and a 15-year-old female subject were detained. A 15-year-old male subject fled on foot but was apprehended by officers. The 17-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting (Dane County jail). The two other subjects were arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting (Juvenile Reception Center). Two additional subjects were provided restorative justice referrals for disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 6:39pm – West – Domestic Disturbance:  Officers were initially requested for a check welfare on a possible suicidal subject. A disturbance was found to have occurred involving a 22-year-old female subject. The victim had visible injuries and there was damage to the home. The subject was intoxicated and fought with officers. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, resisting, and battery to law enforcement.
  • 6:57pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (94-year-old female). DNR in place. Nothing suspicious identified. 
  • 7:05pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A traffic stop was conducted after a 37-year-old male subject/driver was following an officer, driving recklessly, and yelling at the officer from the roadway. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for trespassing, reckless driving, resisting, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday, October 6:

  • 1:20am – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 21-year-old male subject. The victim had sustained visible injuries. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.
  • 1:20am – West – Traffic Arrest:  An officer conducted speed enforcement on the Beltline observed a driver/vehicle (16-year-old male) going 88mph. The officer initiated a traffic stop.      The driver/vehicle did not stop. The driver turned off their lights and fled going approximately 100 mph. No pursuit initiated. The registered owners (driver's parents) were contacted. The driver was located/contacted. The driver was issued numerous traffic offenses and arrested for felony eluding.
