Number of calls
From 6:00am on October 6 to 6:00am on October 7, we received 453 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 83
- East: 99
- Midtown: 78
- North: 86
- South: 35
- West: 61
- Other: 11
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Tuesday, October 6:
Priority calls only from 4:51pm to 5:33pm due to calls for service.
- 2:16 – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 48-year-old male subject pushed a jogger down. The subject attempted to run as officers arrived on scene. The subject was detained. The subject punched an officer in the head. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery to law enforcement, felony bail jumping (5 counts), and misdemeanor bail jumping.
- 3:48pm – East – Traffic Stop: A stolen vehicle that was occupied was observed. A traffic stop was initiated. The driver (58-year-old male subject) was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent. Drug paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. A 39-year-old male subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent (passenger), possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony bail jumping.
- 5pm – North – Sexual Assault: A sexual assault was reported. Suspect partially identified. Investigation continuing.
- 7:56pm – North – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to UW Hospital East for a juvenile that was brought in by their parent with a gunshot wound to the chest area. The juvenile's explanation of what occurred was not clear and their story changed throughout talking with officers and detectives. Investigation revealed that the juvenile went to purchase a handgun, handed the cash to the seller, and was pistol whipped by another subject. The gun discharged during this and struck them in the chest. Investigation continuing.
Wednesday, October 7:
- 1:06am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers made contact with numerous subjects at the Willy Street neighborhood park which is posted as no trespassing. Several subjects cooperated and left the park. A 62-year-old male subject was contacted and found to have an outstanding warrant. He was transported to jail on 2 outstanding warrants and probable cause for theft. A 51-year-old male subject lied about his identity and once properly identified was found to have a fully extraditable warrant out of Kansas. Both subjects were arrested and transported to jail.
