The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on October 7 to 6:00am on October 8, we received 452 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 85
  • East: 108
  • Midtown: 79  
  • North: 54
  • South: 51
  • West: 64
  • Other: 11

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, October 7:

Priority calls only from 8:43am to 9:30am due to calls for service. 

  • 4:20am – Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital after an intoxicated subject caused a disturbance and made suicidal statements. Mental health evaluation pending. Final outcome pending. 
  • 7:20am – East – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of subject who was trying to cut themselves and making other threatening statements. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Final outcome pending.
  • 1pm – Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a suicidal subject who was threatening staff. The subject left the hospital but was located by officers and brought back for an emergency detention evaluation (supported). Transport to Winnebago pending.
  • 1:23pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A traffic stop was conducted on a known revoked driver (56-year-old female subject). The driver and the occupants in the vehicle were acting strange and furtively moving around. A 42-year-old male subject provided his brother's identification for himself. This subject was properly identified and cited for obstruction. A search of the vehicle yielded drugs/drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation violation.
  • 1:30pm – East – Domestic Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male subject. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the subject. The subject was located and arrested for domestic false imprisonment.
  • 1:48pm – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 24-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.
  • 5:22pm – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (49-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 5:53pm – South – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation after they physically attacked a stranger randomly in public. Probable cause developed to charge the subject. Emergency detention sought/supported. Subject placed at a facility.  
  • 6:18pm – West – Child Abuse: Officers responded to a report of children not being picking up by their parent (32-year-old female subject).  This parent was the suspect in previous child abuse reports.  Probable cause had been developed to charge/arrest the parent, but they had not been arrested. The subject ended up arriving to pick up her children (late) and was arrested for physical abuse to a child (2 counts). CPS took custody of the children.
  • 11:30pm – Midtown – Trespassing:  A 43-year-old male subject was a patient at a local hospital. He was discharged and refused to leave the premises. Officers made contact with the subject and gave him an opportunity to leave, but he refused. The subject was arrested for trespassing.

Thursday, October 8:

  • 12:46am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded for a report of a 59-year-old male subject checking for unlocked bicycles. The subject, who has a history of stealing bicycles, was contacted and arrested. He was charged with attempted theft, disorderly conduct, bail jumping (2 counts), open intoxicants, trespassing, and resisting/obstructing.
  • 4:09am – East – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested MPD locate/arrest a client (51-year-old male) of theirs for tampering with their GPS bracelet.  The subject was located, arrested, and transported to jail.
