The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on October 8 to 6:00am on October 9, we received 444 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 84
  • East: 100
  • Midtown: 66
  • North: 60
  • South: 53
  • West: 71
  • Other: 10

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, October 8:

Priority calls only from 12:26pm to 12:48pm due to calls for service.

  • 6:26am - North – Assist Citizen: Officers responded to an assisted living facility where a 90-year-old man had gone missing. Officers located the man in the building and he was returned to his residence.
  • 9:59am - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 18-year-old male suspect broke a window. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic damage to property.
  • 2:39pm - West – Child Abuse: Officers investigated a report of the abuse of a ten-year-old child. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the 38-year-old male suspect for physical abuse of a child. Suspect is at large. Officers consulted with CPS. 
  • 4:10pm - East – Child Abuse: Sun Prairie PD informed Madison PD they located a juvenile who was listed by Madison PD as missing. The child disclosed to Sun Prairie officers she was physically abused at home in Madison. Officers responded to the residence where the 41-year-old female suspect admitted she had struck her daughter. The suspect was arrested and charged with physical abuse of a child. Officers notified CPS.
  • 4:15pm - North – Battery: Officers responded to a gas station where the 25-year-old female suspect struck the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and battery to an elder.
  • 10:07pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a bar on State St where staff asked the 42-year-old female suspect to leave but she refused. The suspect tried to punch employees at the bar. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

Friday, October 9:

  • 12:01am - Central – Disturbance: Officers made contact with a 25-year-old male suspect who was harassing a group of women in the 500 block of W Mifflin St. The suspect was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault, discharge bodily fluid on LE, disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 12:32am - North – Exposure: Officers responded to the community room at an apartment building where the 31-year-old male suspect was seen exposing himself. The suspect was arrested and charge with lewd/lascivious behavior.
  • 2:01am - West – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a hospital to contact a woman who had expressed homicidal thoughts to family members. Officers placed the woman into protective custody and consulted with Journey Mental Health who had yet to conduct an evaluation at the time of this writing.
