Incident Details
The Madison Police Department is investigating a disturbance and stabbing that occurred on the city's near east side on Saturday.
Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Williamson St. around 6:20 p.m. They connected with a man who was bleeding from a stab wound to the abdomen. The man refused medical help at the scene and did not provide any information about a suspect to officers.
As officers were talking with witnesses and stabilizing the scene, a large crowd formed.
Officers were also notified the injured man, who had been taken to the hospital by friends, was creating a disturbance at the hospital. The man spit at and attempted to kick the officers who responded to the hospital. By this point in the investigation, there was probable cause to arrest the man for disorderly conduct for the Williamson Street disturbance as well as the one occurring at the hospital. He also was found to be in violation of his parole, which required him to refrain from drinking, being violent and being in McPike Park.
After he was medically cleared, the man was arrested on two counts of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and a parole violation.
Officers are still searching for the stabbing suspect.
