Drone leads officers to suspects, 2 guns recovered

The Madison Police Department was requested to assist the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in locating a wanted person under its supervision.

The person was on GPS monitoring, and officers found him and two other men standing outside an apartment along the 5700 block of Russett Road.

The men attempted to drive from the area but abandoned the vehicle when they noticed officers positioned in the neighborhood. They then ran from the vehicle.

A drone was deployed to monitor the men as they ran through the residential area and helped provide a safe approach to their apprehension. The drone and drone pilot directed officers to where the suspects were hiding. Two were found near the apartment complex and one was found hiding near a small shed in the neighborhood. All three were safely taken into custody.

Two firearms were spotted inside their abandoned vehicle. Photos of them are shown below.

Raheem R. Carter, 19, was arrested for resisting an officer, felony bail jumping and a probation warrant.

Bruce B. Hunt, 20, was arrested for burglary (party to a crime), carrying a concealed weapon and resisting an officer.

Davairick M. Jefferson, 19, was arrested for receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting an officer and misdemeanor bail jumping.

All three were taken to the Dane County Jail. 

Stolen items were recovered from their vehicle too, and additional charges are possible. This remains an ongoing and active investigation.
