Redistricting Saga Continues, Executive Operating Budget, and more
postedHi Everyone,
The hurried redistricting saga continues. At the Ad Hoc Redistricting Committee's meeting last Friday, September 30, the committee voted to recommend Map 7a. In this map, District 13 would experience few changes as all existing neighborhoods within D13 would remain.

At the Committee's meeting yesterday, Alder Carter submitted a map concept that would dramatically change District 13. I don't have a screenshot to share, but you can see Alder Carter's proposed map by clicking on this link.
In brief, District 13 would expand down the western side of South Park street all the way to Badger Rd, picking up neighborhoods in the Arboretum, both sides of Fish Hatchery, including the Village on Park and the Burr Oak neighborhood, neighborhoods that have long been the core of District 14.
It is worth nothing that this map, if adopted, would mean that a significant portion of the Dugeon-Monroe neighborhood would go into District 10.
The Committee meets again on Thursday at 4pm. Click here for details, including how to watch and how to submit comments.
This process is rushed because the City decided to wait until the results of the Census were in before getting started. Due to delays caused by the coronavirus, we are now on very accelarated timeline. Please feel free to weigh in by emailing the committee at redistricting@cityofmadison.com.
