South Bedford Street Closure at North Shore Drive
postedAs part of the North Shore Drive Path project, South Bedford Street will be closed at North Shore Drive starting on Monday, May 12 to construct a raised crossing for the path across South Bedford Street.
The closure is anticipated to last up to four weeks. The City’s contractor, S&L Underground Inc., is allowed up to four weeks to install the raised crossing due to the construction complexities. However, it is likely that the closure will last less than four weeks.
The North Shore Drive Path project will be constructed in two phases. The first phase currently underway will alleviate some of the Capital City Trail detour impacts in advance of the John Nolen Drive Reconstruction project later this year. This phase widens the existing sidewalk to a 10-foot-wide path from the Southwest Path to across South Bedford Street. The later phase will continue the new path through Brittingham Park from South Bedford Street to South Broom Street, including a connection with South Bassett Street. This segment of the project will be constructed in conjunction with the John Nolen Drive reconstruction.
