  • Residents of Southwest and Southeast areas invited to share perspectives in second community survey: The feedback the Planning Division receives in these surveys is crucial in helping them shape plans that accurately represent the needs of these communities. [posted May 13, 2025]
  • BRT Powers Metro to Highest April Ridership Since 2015 : Madison’s Metro Transit is celebrating a major milestone: more than 1.3 million rides were taken in April, marking the highest April ridership in nearly ten years and signaling a powerful comeback for public transit in the region. • Walking and Biking Survey for Plan Update: The City of Madison is in the early stages of updating its decades old Pedestrian Plan and finalizing its All Ages and Abilities (AAA) Bike Network. Also, The Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is developing the first Dane County Active Transportation Plan. When complete, these plans will guide project selection and prioritization to make it safer, easier, and more enjoyable to walk, bike, and roll throughout the area. Please complete a short survey to tell us about how and where you walk, bike, and roll in Madison and around the region.
  • Free Electronics Recycling – Please Help Prevent Fires: As you may have seen in the news, a month ago we had a fire in one of our recycling collection trucks. It was pretty scary, and thanks to some quick thinking by the operator he was able to drive away from the nearby homes and drop the recyclables on the ground before things got much worse. While the official cause of the fire was undetermined, the firefighters did find a computer in with the charred debris. Damaged lithium batteries cause fires. You cannot put them into the recycling, and you cannot put items that have batteries into your recycling either. It is dangerous. Electronics recycling is free to all Madison residents. You just need to take them to a drop-off site.
