Brush pick up ending, leaf pick up will follow; Scam Jam 9/30; Residential parking permits; John Nolen Dr public information meeting & much more!
postedHello neighbors,
Summer “officially” ends today, but of course with Wisconsin weather, we can likely expect some more summertime experiences over the next several weeks. Be sure to check out when your last brush pick up is for the season, before City staff transition to leaf pick up.
I’ve noticed a recent uptick on the listserves related to possible scams. AARP Wisconsin is holding a Scam Jam on September 30 from 1-4pm at the Goodman Community Center to help folks spot and avoid scams. This seems like a great opportunity for community learning!
Parking in our district is always a hot topic. Much of our district is covered by residential parking permit zones, where parking is restricted to 2 hours between 8am-6pm M-Sat, except for those holding residential parking permits. It’s important to understand that this system is the most democratic in the City: Each block of residents can decide for themselves if they wish to designate their block as partially or solely confined to resident parking permits. If more than 50% of residents wish to see a change, that petition can be given to the City, and the City will change the markings on that block. If your neighbors are interested in freeing up or further restricting parking on your street, you can take action to make that change.
