I sincerely hope each and every one of you has a restful and joyous Thanksgiving holiday. Please be aware that the City Offices are closed on November 27 and 28. Emergency services will be open; for emergencies, please call 911. Use Report a Problem for non-emergencies.
- Trash & Recycling Collection Changing for Thanksgiving Holidays; Streets Division Closed November 27 & 28: There will be no Streets Division collections performed on Thursday, November 27, 2025, and Friday, November 28, in observance of Thanksgiving (11/27) and Ho-Chunk Day (11/28). If Thursday is your normal set-out day, please set your carts out on Wednesday. If your normal set-out day is Friday, please set your carts out on the following Monday.
- Thanksgiving & Ho-Chunk Day Service: Metro will operate a Sunday schedule on Thursday, November 27, and a Saturday schedule on Friday, November 28.

- Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 25, at 6:30 p.m. in VIRTUAL FORMAT. Agenda items include prohibiting the sale of cats or dogs in retail pet stores.

Public Information Meetings (PIMs)
- Public Cannonball Path - Phase 6, Monday, November 24: The public is invited to attend a Virtual Public Information Meeting scheduled for Monday, November 24th at 6pm to learn more about the proposed design and anticipated timelines, as well as an opportunity to share feedback and ask questions of the project team. Registration prior is required.

- Police Civilian Oversight Board selects Interim Independent Monitor: The Police Civilian Oversight Board wishes to announce the hiring of the Interim Independent Monitor, Aeiramique “Meeka” Glass.
- City of Madison Holding Workshop on Economic Development Plan Draft Strategy Recommendations: The City of Madison, in partnership with EQT By Design and 4th Economy, is holding a public workshop to engage community members in shaping the city's economic development plan.
- John Nolen Drive Reconstruction Project Enters Stage 2 on November 24: Beginning Monday morning, November 24, the John Nolen Drive Reconstruction Project will transition into Stage 2. During this phase, all traffic will shift to the existing northbound lanes.
- Final Weekend for Streets Division Drop-off Sites in 2025 is 11/29 & 11/30: The final weekend for the Streets Division drop-off sites in 2025 is Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30.
- Welcome to MPD: Two officers begin Accelerated Academy: Another Accelerated Academy is underway at the Madison Police Department. Two officers were sworn-in early Wednesday morning by the Police and Fire Commission.
- Madison Area Community Land Trust (MACLT) has two affordable homes for sale! These homes are for families with incomes below 80% Area Median Income and will be resale-restricted to remain affordable for future homeowners. Interested prospective buyers must submit an MACLTPre-application, a mortgage pre-approval with a MACLT-approved lender, and an Intent to Purchase to be eligible to buy one of these homes.
- The City of Madison is seeking to understand which individuals and organizations may be interested in using city-owned land to grow food. Please fill out this short survey if you are an individual, or run a small business or organization involved in community or market gardening, and are interested in expanding food access and assisting Madison families with food affordability needs.

- Green Friday - Cleanup at Garner Park, Friday, November 28: Celebrate Green Friday with Madison Parks! Skip the shopping and join us at Garner Park for a relaxed, family-friendly morning focused on giving back to nature. Volunteers will help pick up litter, tidy common areas, and enjoy time outdoors while making a positive impact on their community.
- Downtown Madison Holiday Open House, Friday, November 28 and Saturday, November 29. FREE shopping gift bags filled with goodies, and shopping specials from downtown businesses, live music, special performances from Kids in the Rotunda, and more.
- Small Business Saturday, November 29. If you plan to shop, please shop local this holiday season!
