The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on January 6 to 6:00am on January 7, we received 407 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 53
- East: 95
- Midtown: 59
- North: 76
- South: 45
- West: 64
- Other: 15
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Tuesday, January 6:
- 8:07am - West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject who reported they were actively cutting/harming themselves. EMS/CARES responded. Family on scene. The subject was contacted and found to have minor/superficial cuts. Safety plan developed. Officers disengaged.
- 10:18am - North – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject. Naloxone was administered prior to the arrival of officers, which was effective. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Officers disengaged.
- 12:13pm - Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 27-year-old male subject was contacted and arrested for talking and a harassment injunction after he continued to attempt to contact/contact a victim who had a restraining order on him.
- 12:54pm - South – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested MPD respond to take into custody a 19-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested on a probation/parole hold and transported to jail.
- 1:21pm - South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving an 18-year-old male subject. The subject caused a disturbance around his child, child’s mother, and child’s grandmother. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.
- 5:34pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a motel for a disturbance involving a 40-year-old female subject. The subject was asked to leave the premises by staff and she refused. The subject provided false identification to officers. The subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was arrested for obstructing and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was cited for trespass after notification.
- 9:27pm - West – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a motel for a check person (45-year-old male subject). The subject was found to be in violation of his probation terms and was transported to jail.
- 11:40pm - North – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject who had been involved in an argument and armed themselves with a knife. It was reported that the subject had mental health concerns and was in a paranoid state. Phone contact attempted with the subject, without success. Dialogue was attempted through a closed door. The subject refused to exit the bedroom and denied being suicidal. Local mental health resources consulted. Decision was made for officers to walk away. No other subjects in potential harms way. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject for domestic disorderly conduct.
