Cross-Country and Skate Skiing at Elver Park

East and West Trails are groomed for both classic cross-country skiing (tracks) and skating skiing. We offer classic skis to rent, along with concessions inside the park pavilion.

Staff Hours and Equipment Rentals 

If trails are listed as open, the warming pavilion is staffed Wednesday - Sunday only for concessions and ski equipment, unless otherwise posted in the alert. Hours are subject to change. All winter activities are dependent on the weather and conditions.

SKI PERMIT REQUIRED

All ski trails at Elver Park require a daily or annual ski permit for anyone aged 16 or older, which may be purchased online or by phone (608) 266-4711. Note: If you rent skis, a daily permit is included.

  • 2025 permit is valid from time of purchase through Dec. 31, 2025.
  • 2026 permit goes on sale November 1, 2025.
  • The permit is valid for Dane County Parks trails also. 

REMINDER: Dogs are NOT permitted on cross-country ski trails. Please use the hiking trails to walk your leashed dog.
