MPD Notable Calls 03/02/2020 to 03/03/2020

March 3, 2020 9:24 AM

The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.

From 6:00 a.m. on 03/02/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 03/03/2020, MPD received 418 calls for service.  This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.  A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (58), East (68), Midtown (88), North (66), South (52), West (67), and Other (19).  "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City.  This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

NORTH: Adult Arrested Person – 5:43 a.m.  Officers responded to Hoard St for a report of two men fighting.  A suspect (23-year-old male) approached officers with pockets full of drug paraphernalia and he lied about his identity.  The suspect was properly identified and found to have an outstanding warrant.  The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct while armed, obstructing and the warrant.

WEST: Reckless Driver – 7:00 a.m.  Dispatch received multiple reports of reckless driving.  Officers located the vehicle on city cameras.  A passenger in the vehicle was observed to be armed.  The vehicle was observed by officers but the vehicle/occupants fled at a high rate of speed.  MPD did not pursue the vehicle.
