The information provided below about some of the calls officers responded to is derived from notes provided by MPD Officers-In-Charge (OIC) at the end of their shifts. Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered by an OIC from those in the field who were actively working cases. The OIC is sharing what they were being told, in the moment. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as officers, detectives and investigators continue their work.

From 6:00 a.m. on 09/24/2020 through 6:00 a.m. on 09/25/2020, MPD received 318 calls for service.  This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.  A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows: Central (66), East (78), Midtown (45), North (45), South (30), West (40), and Other (14).  "Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City.  This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Priority calls only from 8:20pm to 9:40pm due to calls for service.

NORTH: Missing Adult – 10:01 a.m.  Officers responded to a report of a missing subject who has dementia and was last seen driving.  Areas checked.  The subject was located safe.

SOUTH: OMVWI – 12:02 pm.  Officers stopped the suspect vehicle in the 1900 block of Greenway Cross as the license plates did not match the vehicle.  It was learned there was outstanding probable cause to arrest the suspect (36-year-old male) for previous incidents.  An additional charge was added of OWI 6th offense.  The suspect was conveyed to jail.

WEST: Recovered Stolen Auto – 6:09 pm.  Officers recovered an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the 1000 block of Gammon Ln.  Owner was notified.

WEST: Check Person – 8:10 pm.  A subject requested that officers check the welfare of her sister due to mental health concerns.  It was determined police contact with the sister would be more appropriate in the morning the following day.  The subject agreed to call police back at that time.  Information was documented in a report.

MIDTOWN: Domestic Disturbance – 8:39 pm.  During an argument between the suspect (35-year-old male) and the victim, the suspect threw a phone at the victim and put him in a headlock.  The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

MIDTOWN: Residential Burglary – 10:55 pm.  The victims were awoken by the suspects entering their home.  One of the victims called out and the suspects fled the residence.  A vehicle and other items were stolen.  An ATL was aired and the vehicle was listed as stolen.  Investigation continuing.  Incident report completed on MPD website.

NORTH: Domestic Disturbance – 11:40 pm.  During an argument between the suspect (64-year-old male) and victim, the suspect pushed the victim into a table.  The suspect then armed himself with a knife and threatened the victim.  Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for domestic disorderly conduct while armed and domestic battery.  The suspect is at large.
