The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on April 10 to 6:00am on April 13 we received 1,245 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 227
  • East: 240
  • Midtown: 202   
  • North: 236
  • South: 148
  • West: 161
  • Other: 31

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, April 10:

  • 7:28am – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing infant. Lifesaving measures performed. The child was pronounced deceased. Investigation continuing.  
  • 10:12am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 58-year-old male subject. The subject was overturning outdoor chairs and being loud. The subject, out on parole, was armed with a large knife. The subject was arrested on a probation/parole hold.  
  • 12:42pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to Walmart for a report of an unwanted subject (43-year-old male). Officers made contact with the subject. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for abuse of hazardous substances (huffing) and resisting.  
  • 1:28pm – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 37-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
  • 6pm – East – Battery: Caller reported their minor child was enroute to the hospital in an ambulance for injuries sustained by another student at school. Victim sustained a broken arm. The other student (13-year-old male) was contacted and admitted to the fight/breaking the victim's arm. The subject was arrested for substantial battery.
  • 8:06pm – South – Battery: Caller reported being strangled by a 22-year-old male subject. The subject had taken the caller/victim's keys the day prior, showed up at their place, and used the keys to enter the residence without authorization. The subject physically assaulted the victim. Subject not on scene when officers responded. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the subject who remains at-large.
  • 10:37pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A wanted subject (46-year-old female) was observed by an officer. The subject was taken into custody and transported to jail.

Saturday, April 11:

Priority calls only from 1:53am to 3:53am due to calls for service. 

Priority calls only from 7:32pm to 11:21pm due to calls for service. 

  • 12:57am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A wanted subject (26-year-old male) was observed on Allied Drive. Officers made contact with the subject, who resisted them. The subject was arrested on the outstanding warrant and for resisting.  
  • 3:10am – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 20-year-old male subject. The caller reported that they were sitting in a vehicle with another subject/victim when the male subject ordered the victim out of a vehicle at gunpoint and into a residence. The caller fled the residence and called police. Officers responded to the residence and made contact with the occupants. The male subject was located hiding in the residence. The gun was located/seized. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, a probation violation, felon in possession of a firearm, and false imprisonment.  
  • 3:44am – Central – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject (61-year-old male) checking car doors. The subject was contacted and arrested for trespass to vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.  
  • 7:05am – North – Adult Arrested Person: DOC issued a warrant for a 47-year-old male subject. The subject was contacted and transported to jail.  
  • 8:18am – North – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from a residential parking lot. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.  
  • 8:43am – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital voluntarily. Subject became combative while at the hospital and wanted to leave. Emergency detention not supported at this time.  
  • 4:58pm – East – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault involving a 27-year-old male Uber driver. The subject was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault.  
  • 7:26pm – East – Check Person: Information obtained that a 25-year-old male subject was in the Madison area with another subject who was reported as missing person in Ohio. Phone ping conducted. Both subjects located/contacted. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and false imprisonment.  *Family of the missing person called back after the arrest with concerns again for the whereabouts of the victim.  Additional follow-up led to locating the subject with a 30-year-old male subject who was holding the victim against their will. The subject was arrested for false imprisonment, intimidation of a victim, and disorderly conduct. The victim remained with officers until the family traveled many hours to get here to take them back home safely.
  • 8:06pm – Central – Child Abuse: A 23-year-old male subject struck a child with an open fist and shoved them. The subject was arrested for felony child abuse and an outstanding warrant. A 37-year-old female subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • 10:02pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 33-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.  

Sunday, April 12:

Priority calls only from 11:37am to 12:27pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 12:56pm to 3:32pm due to calls for service. 

  • 2:38am – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a 27-year-old female subject intoxicated and inside the residence that did not belong to her. The subject was arrested for criminal trespass to a dwelling and criminal damage to property.  
  • 4:36am – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (78-year-old male). The subject was pronounced deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  
  • 4:46am – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male subject. The subject punched the victim in the face causing injuries. The subject was arrested for domestic substantial battery.  
  • 12:09pm – Midtown – Check Person: A subject left home without any belongings around midnight. The subject was reportedly acting strangely before they left. The subject returned home and was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject left the hospital and made suicidal statements. The subject was contacted by officers and taken into protective custody. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending. The subject kicked a nurse while at the hospital (probable cause developed to charge the subject).
  • 12:16pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, theft, and false imprisonment. The subject also had 2 outstanding warrants.
  • 5:27pm – South – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a crash involving numerous vehicles on the Beltline (@ Todd Drive). A 53-year-old male driver was found to be impaired. He was transported to a local hospital (only subject injured in the crash). The subject was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), inattentive driving, and operating without insurance.
  • 5:30pm – East – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers plugged into a sexual assault investigation after the victim reported being physically assaulted by the same subject in another jurisdiction. The subject (29-year-old male) was arrested by the other law enforcement agency for physical abuse of a child. Sexual assault investigation on-going.
  • 8:08pm – Midtown – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a residence for a report of laptops missing/stolen. A door to the home was found to be unlocked. One of the laptops was pinged and located in a garbage can. The other laptop has not been located at this time.
  • 8:36pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 26-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery. A 33-year-old male subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.  
  • 9:39pm – West – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a report of a suicidal subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending.  

Monday, April 13:

  • 12:13am – East – Drug Incident: An officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a convenience store (hand-to-hand activity). A traffic stop was conducted. The driver (36-year-old male) was observed handing items to the passenger (42-year-old female). Both subjects were removed from the vehicle. The male subject was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. The female subject was cited/released for obstruction/resisting as she initially refused to exit the vehicle.
