The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on April 14 to 6:00am on April 15, we received 465 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 71
- East: 114
- Midtown: 71
- North: 76
- South: 59
- West: 65
- Other: 9
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Tuesday, April 14:
Priority calls only from 5:21pm to 8:16pm due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 10:50pm to 12:13am due to calls for service.
- 8:10am – West – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a local hospital for a report of a sexual assault. The victim and suspect are known to one another. Investigation continuing.
- 8:39am – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local facility for services.
- 9:23am – East – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers made contact with a subject who has a Chapter 51 return. The subject was transported to a local hospital. The subject was placed at a local facility and officers disengaged.
- 11:17am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A subject placed a deceased turkey in front of the main doors to the courthouse. Officers later responded to the courthouse after being notified that the subject (49-year-old male) was in the lobby. The subject was contacted and arrested for disorderly conduct.
- 1:33pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person (30-year-old male) attempting to gain access to doors of a residential building that had no trespassing signs posted. The subject was reported as trespassing at a different complex earlier in the day. The subject was contacted and transported to jail to post on a trespassing citation.
- 6:44pm – Midtown – Child Abuse: Officers responded to a local hospital reference a child abuse investigation. CPS plugged in. An infant was brought into the hospital by their parents with concerning injuries. Child admitted to the hospital. A plan was made for a second child to stay with grandparents and to be brought to the hospital the next day for an evaluation. Investigation continuing.
- 8:03pm – East – Drug Incident: Officers responded to the men's shelter to attempt to locate a 53-year-old male subject who was in violation of their supervised released regulations. Upon observing officers, the subject quickly tried to stash a baggie and a smoking device. The subject was arrested. A search incident to arrest located meth and drug paraphernalia. The subject was charged with a probation warrant, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- 8:15pm – West – Battery: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 13-year-old female subject. The subject engaged in a verbal argument with a friend (also a minor) and the argument turned physical. The friend's mom attempted to intervene. The subject punched the mom in the face. The victim fell, struck their head, and began to seize. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct. She was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
- 9:52pm – Central – Fight Call: Officers responded to Porchlight Housing for a fight in progress involving numerous subjects. Investigation concluded that a 63-year-old male subject battered two victims. He was arrested for battery (2 counts) and disorderly conduct.
- 10:37pm – South – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject with a gun at a business in the 900 block of S. Park St. Two subjects were contacted and determined to be victims. The subject/suspect (30-year-old) was observed in the store. He was contacted/detained. A handgun was located. The subject held the gun at his side and threatened both victims to stop arguing. The subject also punched one of the victims. The subject is a felon and unable to have firearms. The subject was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, disorderly conduct while armed, and battery.
Wednesday, April 15:
- 4:36am – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of W. Mifflin Street. A 43-year-old male subject was harassing and threatening several subjects who were sleeping. One of the subjects deployed OC at the male subject. The male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and an outstanding warrant.
