The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on April 17 to 6:00am on April 20 we received 1,281 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 259
  • East: 249
  • Midtown: 221   
  • North: 203
  • South: 150
  • West: 173
  • Other: 26

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, April 17:

  • 2:17am – Midtown – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a report of a driver/vehicle striking a parked vehicle and then enter an apartment complex building. The driver (21-year-old female) was contacted and found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
  • 9:32am – West – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a 60-year-old male subject. CARES responded for the check welfare and located the subject deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Decedent had a history of medical/health concerns. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. 
  • 4:59pm – Midtown – Trespassing:  Officers responded to a trespassing complaint at a business involving a 56-year-old female subject. The subject was asked to leave the store and she refused. The subject was arrested for trespassing.
  • 6:25pm – East – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Officers responded to an address and forced entry to check on the subject. The subject was located down with several self-inflicted puncture wounds. Officers administered lifesaving aid on the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital and left in the care of medical staff. *Emergency detention evaluation pending.
  • 7:46pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 34-year-old female subject. The subject and victim engaged in a verbal argument over the phone. The subject went to the victim's home and pounded on the door. The subject and victim continued to engage in a verbal argument. The subject started to throw items the victim's personal property around. The subject armed herself with a screwdriver. The subject fled the area before officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
  • 11:07pm – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

Saturday, April 18:

Priority calls only from 9:22am to 12:03am due to calls for service.  

  • 12:27am – South – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. A 42-year-old male subject in the vehicle was arrested on 3 outstanding warrants.
  • 7:11am – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 58-year-old male subject. The subject grabbed the victim and put them in a chokehold. The subject threatened to kill the victim and refused to let the victim leave the residence. The victim was able to escape and called 911. The subject left the residence before officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
  • 2:10pm – West – Runaway Juvenile: A 15-year-old female subject was reported as a runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
  • 8:17pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were called to the men's shelter for a 37-year-old male subject who was loud and confrontational with staff. The subject threatened staff with physical harm and punched a hole in a wall. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for threats to law enforcement, resisting, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to property.
  • 9:47pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject resides with his parents and created a disturbance while he was drinking. The subject punched a hole in a wall. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.

Sunday, April 19:

Priority calls only from 11:35am to 3:22pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 9:53pm to 12:15am due to calls for service. 

  • 12:30am – South – Intoxicated Driver: A traffic stop was conducted (registered owner was criminally revoked with 4 previous OWIs). The driver (44-year-old male) was slow to stop. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and the driver fled on foot. Subject given numerous verbal commands to stop. The subject refused. K9 deployed which successfully stopped the subject. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (5th offense) and resisting.
  • 1:01am – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (69-year-old female) with a DNR in place. The subject passed away. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 1:06am – Central – Fight Call: Officers responded to the 500 block of State Street for a reported fight between 50-60 juveniles in the street. Several groups of juveniles were observed fighting. Juveniles scattered as officers arrived in the area. A 16-year-old male subject was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and 2 counts of resisting.
  • 3:05am – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance:  Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male subject. The subject pinned the victim down and punched them several times. The subject restricted the victim's breathing which caused them to lose consciousness. The subject pistol-whipped the victim several times. The subject left the residence before officers arrived. McFarland PD conducted a traffic stop on the subject's vehicle. The subject fled on foot but was apprehended. The subject was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, and domestic strangulation.
  • 6:47am – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 31-year-old female subject. The caller reported their daughter attacked them. Other physical altercations reported between the two subjects. The caller/victim had visible injuries. The subject refused to answer the door for officers. Decision was made to walk away. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.  
  • 12:56pm – Midtown – Assist EMS:  Officers responded to a report of a subject not breathing correctly and vomiting. Officers administered naloxone and performed lifesaving aid until EMS arrived. The subject was transported to a local hospital. 
  • 3:14pm – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (18-year-old male). Death self-inflicted/suicide. Medical Examiner's office responded.
  • 4:55pm – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a business on State Street for a disturbance involving a 20-year-old male subject. The subject punched a victim in the face causing them to fall to the ground. The subject kicked the victim several times. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.
  • 9:11pm – Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention. Emergency detention sought/approved. The subject was transported to Winnebago.
  • 9:18pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested that MPD locate/arrest a wanted client of theirs (31-year-old male). The subject was located and contacted. The subject ran from officers but was apprehended. The subject was arrested for an outstanding DOC warrant and resisting.
  • 9:37pm – South – Check Person: Officers received a request from Fitchburg PD to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Phone ping conducted. The subject (55-year-old female) was located in her vehicle at a park. The subject was sleeping but woke up when officers arrived. The subject put the vehicle in reverse and backed into a Fitchburg PD squad. The subject also struck a Fitchburg PD officer causing minor injuries. The subject was for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense) and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.
  • 10:57pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the men's shelter for an intoxicated subject (50-year-old male) refusing to leave the premises. The subject was arrested for trespassing.
