The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on April 20 to 6:00am on April 21, we received 419 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 69
  • East: 92
  • Midtown: 68  
  • North: 83
  • South: 49
  • West: 49
  • Other: 9

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, April 20:

Priority calls only from 6:32pm to 7:19pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 9:32pm to 11:31pm due to calls for service. 

  • 8:43am – North – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. Contact made with the subject who had visible injuries. The subject would not explain to officers how they sustained the injuries. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital. Investigation continuing. *Emergency detention sought/not supported. The subject was released into the care of a family member.
  • 9:03am – Central – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a local hospital for a sexual assault report. Invesetigation continuing.
  • 10am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 26-year-old female subject turned herself on outstanding probable cause. The subject was arrested/booked into jail for disorderly conduct while armed.
  • 12:55pm – North – Check Person: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a report of a subject (17-year-old female) passed out in a vehicle and unable to be woken up. Lifesaving measures were performed, but they were unsuccessful. Numerous prescription medications observed, one of which was empty. Medical Examiner's office responded. Autopsy pending. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
  • 1:45pm – West – Adult Arrested Person: Caller reported that a subject was in active labor and needed help.  This was a similar call to one earlier in the day in a different area of the city. Areas checked. No one located. The caller, 21-year-old male), was contacted and arrested for misuse of 911.
  • 3:01pm – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted. A firearm was taken for safekeeping. Safey plan developed. Resources plugged in. Officers disengaged. 
  • 5:24pm – Midtown – Non-Residential Burglary: Officers responded to Nakoma Golf Club for several subjects attempting to steal a golf cart. A 21-yaer-old male subject was contacted. He attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. 3 other subjects were not located. The golf cart was recovered. The suspect was arrested on outstanding warrants, burglary to a building, and resisting.
  • 7:49pm – North – Recovered Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen. A 32-year-old male subject was identified as the suspect. Areas checked. Vehicle observed. Traffic stop conducted. The suspect (driver) and a passenger were detained. The passenger was released. The suspect was arrested on outstanding warrants and numerous other charges (not known at the time of this writing).
  • 10:10pm – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 22-year-old female subject. The subject and victim got into an argument. The subject threatened to kill the victim and the victim's children. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and an outstanding warrant.
  • 11:07pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 39-year-old male subject. The subject and victim were engaged in a verbal argument which then escalated when the subject got into the victim's face and slapped the phone out of the victim's hand. The subject and victim then engaged in a physical altercation. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.  

Tuesday, April 21:

  • 12:23am – East – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver (25-year-old male) fell asleep at a light. The driver woke up and drove off. The driver/vehicle came to a stop a half block later. No signs of impairment observed. The driver completed field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for resisting and issued a traffic citation for failure to follow sign/signal.
