The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on April 28 to 6:00am on April 29, we received 457 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 95
  • East: 88
  • Midtown: 80  
  • North: 71
  • South: 55
  • West: 57
  • Other: 11

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Tuesday, April 27:

  • 6:57am – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (53-year-old male). Madison Fire arrived on scene first and made entry to the residence. The subject was located down. The subject was determined to be deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  
  • 2:28pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male subject armed with a large kitchen knife. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. The subject was later located and arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, resisting, and felony bail jumping (2 counts).
  • 3:33pm – East – Non-Residential Burglary: A 35-year-old male subject was observed cutting a fence that surrounds a property on Eagan Rd. The subject was located on the roof. The subject was arrested for attempted burglary and possession of burglarious tools.
  • 6:32pm – Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). Transport to Winnebago pending.
  • 11:13pm – Central – Disturbance: An officer observed a physical disturbance on State St/W. Mifflin St.  Three subjects were involved (35-year-old female, 39-year-old male, and 35-year-old male). The subjects resisted officers and interfered in the investigation. The female subject was arrested for trespassing, obstructing, and a probation hold. The 35-year-old male was arrested for obstructing, resisting, and misdemeanor bail jumping (3 counts). The other male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 11:29pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence involving a 38-year-old male subject. The caller/victim reported that the subject threatened them with a knife, slapped them with the knife, and poked them with the end of the knife (no injuries sustained). The subject was contacted and arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed, domestic battery, and 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.

Wednesday, April 28:

  • 12:02am – Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: A juvenile was at a local hospital and was in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). Placement pending.
