The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on April 30 to 6:00am on May 1, we received 456 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 74
- East: 96
- Midtown: 85
- North: 82
- South: 47
- West: 63
- Other: 9
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Thursday, April 30:
Priority calls only from 11:08am to 12:22pm and from 10:09pm to 3:22am due to calls for service.
- 7:55am - South – Disturbance: Officers responded to Kwik Trip where a 32-year-old male suspect and 37-year-old male suspect were fighting. Both suspects were cited for disorderly conduct.
- 9:33am - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded with MFD paramedics to a residence where a 72-year-old man had passed away. Nothing suspicious on scene.
- 10:13am - East – Adult Arrested Person: School staff became aware of a social media post in which the 17-year-old suspect appeared to have a handgun. Officers located a handgun in the suspect's residence. The suspect was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
- 12:50pm - Midtown – Traffic Arrest: An officer conducting traffic enforcement on the beltline observed a motorcycle traveling well over the speed limit. The 38-year-old male suspect lost control of the motorcycle and crashed on the off-ramp to S Whitney Way. The suspect attempted to flee but the officer apprehended him. The motorcycle was determined to be stolen. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with OMVWOC, resisting arrest, fleeing an officer, and multiple traffic violations.
- 2:14pm - East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 36-year-old female was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
- 4:01pm - Central – Theft from Auto: A victim reported that an unknown suspect smashed his car window and stole a firearm from the vehicle. Officers listed the firearm as stolen.
- 9:50pm - North – 911 Multiple Nuisance Calls: A 46-year-old male suspect placed repeated calls to 911. Officers arrested the suspect and upon searching him, located debit and credit cards that did not belong to the suspect. The suspect was charged with misuse of 911 and theft.
- 10:03pm - East – Hit and Run Crash: A 42-year-old male suspect was driving southbound on S Stoughton Rd when he struck a construction worker who was placing cones in the roadway. The victim succumbed to his injuries. The suspect did not stop at the scene but was later located and taken into custody. The suspect faces hit and run involving death and possible OWI homicide charges. Investigation continuing.
Friday, May 1:
- 12:57am - Central – Traffic Arrest: Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that ran a red light. Officers discovered that the 32-year-old male suspect had two warrants for his arrest. The suspect was conveyed to jail on the warrants.
