The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on April 9 to 6:00am on April 10, we received 479 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 83
- East: 81
- Midtown: 83
- North: 79
- South: 55
- West: 82
- Other: 16
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Thursday, April 9:
Priority calls only from 6:00pm to 11:27pm due to calls for service.
- 3:14am - North – Stolen Auto: Officers responded earlier in the night for a report of a suspicious vehicle believed to be involved in auto thefts. Officers eventually located the 18-year-old male suspect who was arrested and charged with attempted OMVWOC, damage to property, and resisting. (This was a late call that did not make the previous 24-hour cycle.)
- 6:28am - East – Damage to Property: Officers responded to the 400 block of Rethke Ave where two vehicles were damaged sometime overnight. Investigation continuing.
- 9:02am - West – Drug Overdose: Walmart employees reported that a 43-year-old male had entered the restroom with canisters of compressed air. When employees attempted to check on the suspect, he did not respond. Officers and MFD paramedics responded. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of hazardous substance.
- 1:07pm - Central – Check Person: Officers responded to a business where the 35-year-old male suspect was threatening staff. Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The suspect was placed into protective custody for a Chapter 51 return and transported to a hospital.
- 2:08pm - Midtown – Retail Theft: Officers responded to a store where the 31-year-old male suspect stole merchandise. The suspect was arrested and charged with 2 counts of misdemeanor retail theft, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
- 3:04pm - North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers made contact with a 20-year-old male suspect who had probable cause for his arrest. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and conveyed to jail.
- 9:41pm - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 52-year-old male suspect was threatening the victim. Officers determined that the suspect had a warrant for his arrest. He was placed into custody and taken to jail. Officers determined that a second subject on scene had a warrant for his arrest. This 40-year-old male suspect was also conveyed to jail. During the investigation, a 48-year-old female suspect punched the victim and was arrested and charged with battery and disorderly conduct.
Friday, April 10:
- 12:21am - East– Enticement/Kidnapping: Officers responded to a residence to investigate a report of a missing woman and her daughter. Investigation ongoing.
- 1:06am - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to State St at N Broom St where the 35-year-old male suspect engaged in an altercation with two subjects. Officers intervened and the suspect became combative with officers. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting/obstructing and threats to LE.
- 1:51am - Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were conducting a traffic stop in the 800 block of Williamson St when the 32-year-old female suspect and 27-year-old male suspect began to interfere. The female suspect was cited for two city ordinance violations, one related to carrying open intoxicants. The male suspect was arrested for obstruction.
